And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God”

Obituary
George Galit de la Cruz lived by these words from the poet-educator whose verses from the epic poem “Hiawatha” he recited often as a young schoolboy in Laoang, Northern Samar. He was always skillful at committing to memory the lines from a poem or the lyrics of a song – but even more was he dedicated to living out in life the wisdom and spirit of profound words.
George’s quiet yet steadfast devotion to family and friends always impressed those whose lives he touched. He was generous with presence, and his presence was marked with kindness, his innate cheerfulness always radiating positivity and hope.
Born on February 22, 1946, George possessed remarkable talent in sketching and drawing, early on captivating those around him with his artistic talent. His affable nature was characterized by a quick wit and a humorous streak, and of course the inevitable puns that constantly peppered his conversations. He always had a genuine smile, reflecting an ever-youthful zest for life that endeared him to family and the many friends he had gathered in life. Music animated him, and never failed to draw out the vibrant performer in an otherwise quiet personality, as he enthusiastically regaled groups with his renditions of modern and vintage hits, particularly “Times of Your Life” by Paul Anka, his favorite songwriter and singer.
George earned a degree in Foreign Service from the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he met and built lifelong friendships with his Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity brothers, whom he considered his extended family outside his own. Despite his Foreign Service education, he opted for a corporate career in the private sector that allowed him to travel across continents. His extensive travels enabled him to encounter diverse cultures and people, yet he ultimately embraced a quiet, yet fulfilling life in Wellington, New Zealand, with Chon and their youngest daughter Eila and her family.
His absence will be profoundly felt by his devoted wife, Chon, as well as their beloved children – Ty-Anne and Jon, Acel and JM, and Eila and Mark. His grandchildren Sabine, Elijah, Jacob, and Arlo will carry his memory with them, honoring the love and connection that united them all. He lives on in their kindness, gentleness of spirit, and love for family.
His siblings, Lily, Gene, Mio, and Milo, will miss him. The bonds forged through shared childhood experiences and fond memories of endless coffee chats, basketball stories and family reunions render his departure particularly heart-breaking and poignant.
But through it all, we find solace in our faith that he is now united with his Maker, reunited with his parents Eming and Glory, and siblings Nonong and Marimil. This reunion heralds a celebration of a new life of bliss and peace with the Almighty Lord in Heaven.

Being the wife of Kuya George’s youngest brother , Milo. I always attentively listen with stories everyone tells, even if it was redundant at times , I always listen by heart. My way to acclimate myself to the family .
One of mommy Glory and daddy Emings stories that I vividly remember was how they got the name of Kuya George, that he was named after president George Washington . Proud parents as they can be,they always tell how smart Kuya George was. To the point Mommy Glory was called by the school principal how and why Kuya George always get 100% on his exams.
Kuya George, wherever you are now. I just want to let you know that you are very much loved by everyone, especially our family. Not only because you showed everyone authentic love and care but you are a person with wonderful character and pleasant personality. You made sure that you were always involve in our lives, from our wedding, when Milo got sick you visited us then he got well and joined us too to celebrate his 2nd life and 50th birthday . Yes! You flew all the way to US . Not only that, you also came to attend My children’s wedding. From Chollo to Kit. we will be forever grateful kuya George . ❤️
No wonder you were so blessed. You built a beautiful family with an equally wonderful wife , ate Chon and children that you raised very well. You have lived life very well kuya George…

🙏

I remember , Sometimes when i visit kuya George in his office, he would lock his door and ask me to play boxing . To test his hand speed and strength .He would laugh and giggle when he was able to hit me. He was a jolly fellow and I enjoyed so much every moment am with my dear brother 😜❤️🕺
I have so may good memories with him but the most remarkable was when kuya George helped me decide what specific major to take in college that suits my personality way back during my time .
He was an understanding , supportive ,generous and a disciplinarian big kuya to me during my younger years .
As a person he was soft spoken, smart, great singer , dancer and most of all kind hearted .
Sad that we can no longer sing together kuya nor talk about good old days , but one thing I’m sure of , you are happy now that you are peacefully in heaven with Dad, mom, kuya Nonong and our sweet dear ate Marimil.
Kuya George will be missed by everyone in family, friends and colleagues . I Love you kuya . I will always be Proud of you .

I will miss the time we have spent chatting, Specifically the times you and dad told me the adventures you had in your life. I truly enjoyed hearing about the journey in your career, the people you met, and your cool wall collection.
