Esther Abiodun Eyetan

Your light shines on in every life you touched. Forever be missed, but never forgotten.

Eulogy

We celebrate the radiant spirit of our mother, Mrs. Esther Abiodun Eyetan—a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and now grandmother, a beacon of unwavering love. Born on 18th December, you carried the joy of a December baby throughout your life, illuminating every room with your laughter and remarkable gift for bringing people together.

Your unwavering devotion to your children was the cornerstone of your life; they were her world, and she would move mountains to ensure their happiness, a selfless guardian whose every breath seemed to whisper, ”You are loved.”

You were a mother in every sense of the word, and not just to your own, but to many who walked into your life. You created a home full of warmth, love, and laughter. Your siblings were never far from your heart as well, and your generosity extended far beyond the walls of your home. Your birthdays were not mere milestones but vibrant celebrations of life, much like your own existence—a testament to faith, generosity, and the quiet strength of a woman who lived wholeheartedly for the glory of God.

As a devoted teacher, you were a guiding light to countless students, your patience and generosity leaving imprints on young hearts, many of whom still carry with them the lessons of kindness and compassion you imparted decades later, your kindness transcended the walls of your home. You became a mother to numerous students.

You wore your Christian faith like an armour, your belief in Jesus guiding you through life’s trials and triumphs. Whether raising your voice in hymns or offering a listening ear, you embodied grace. Your legacy is not merely in the lessons you taught or the meals you shared, but in the love you planted—seeds that bloom now in the lives of your children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know you.

We remember you with deep affection, knowing that your legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you, your song lingers: a melody of resilience, hope, and eternal love.

Rest in peace, dear mum. Your light shines on in every life you touched. You will forever be missed but never forgotten.

Love, your children

Dearest Mummy, you were not just my bestie's mum, you were also mine. You loved and treated me the same as your kids, and your home was always open to me. I remember the many lunch breaks Buki and I would go "visit" you in the staff room. We were always sure of coming back with something for the girls... lol. Now that I look back, I can only imagine how much you had to sacrifice to make sure you provided not just for your kids, but their many friends like me who also called you mum. You ensured that we always had delicious home cooked meals, even while we were in the university. You were always there, always giving. You embodied kindness and generosity. I sometimes tell Buki that I can only imagine how much you'd have spoiled your grandkids.

You left a legacy of love, generosity, faith and elegance. Your hospitality was next to none and you carried yourself with so much grace.

I miss you, ma. I wish you were here to see how the seeds you sowed in us have blossomed. To see the goodness of God in the lives of your children and me.

We will continue to celebrate your life and speak of your wonderful works. May we shine like bright light to the world, just as you did.

Rest on, Mummy. I love you.

I approach this tribute with a deep sense of honour although I never had the privilege of knowing this beautiful soul. I can feel her immense love, care, and the profound impact she had on the lives of all her children, who are now more than just friends but brothers and sisters to me.

Mummy Abiodun! Okun ma, as I would have greeted you as our own from Kabba in Okunland.

All your wonderful children speak of your love with admiration, and your legacy lives on through their kindness, compassion, strength, and the spiritual devotion you instilled in their lives. These attributes speak volumes about the impact you had on their lives, shaping them into the incredible men and women they are today.

For that, my family and I are very proud of the mother you were to them. May your memory continue to inspire and motivate them. You were an amazing mother. Continue to rest in peace, Mummy Abiodun Esther Eyetan.🙏

Mummy…as you were fondly called, I love you and I miss you. Even though I was still young when you left us I remember so many things clearly. I remember you taking me to Mr Biggs every Saturday, it was our thing. I remember you always taking me anywhere you went, I was like your handbag. Even as a child those things meant the world to me, you took care of me like I was your own and I indeed was. You loved and protected me fiercely.
I remember when I was still in command, anytime I walked past the JSS3 block and saw your name on it, I would always tell anyone that cared to listen that that was my mom’s name on the building, I was so proud of you, I still am. You were and still are a great woman and your legacy lives on in all of us you left behind.
I love you Mummy, continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord❤️

Though I never had the privilege of meeting you, Ma, I feel your presence deeply through the lives of your daughters — especially my sister-in-law, who carries your strength, kindness, and quiet resilience. It’s clear you poured so much love, wisdom, and grace into them, and that legacy continues to speak volumes. Losing someone like you leaves an ache that time can’t fully mend, but your spirit lives on in the warmth of their hearts and the lives they touch. I hope you’re resting peacefully, knowing your light didn’t go out. it simply found new ways to shine through them.

Dear mummy, you were more like a biological mother to me, treated me like your biological son within just few months of knowing you. I will never forget in hurry the year 2002 when I was preparing for NDA exams. You were willing and ready to do everything to help me. God decided to call you you home. Mummy, you will forever be missed. I Love you mummy. Keep resting.

My dear Anti Biodun as I fondly called you, words alone can not express how much I have missed you.
Your passing came as a big shock to me such that several years after, on the exact date, I used to lock myself up in the room and cried. I had to pray to God specially to help me forget.
You were a good woman with a good heart, loving, caring, kind and generous. You had the fear of God in you.
I remembered vividly how Command Secondary School Students, who were your wards, used to cluster around you and how you loved and cared for them as though they were your biological children. You raised and nurtured my son, Oluwaseyi as though you gave birth to him.
I can never forget that.
You were an amazing woman.
I thank God for the life you lived and I thank God for the children you left behind. God has been their sustenance and they have all fared well, to the glory of God.
It has been twenty years since you left but you are still fresh in my memory.
I wish you had stayed with us much longer but we can not question God's authority.
Continue to rest in the blossom of our Lord Jesus Christ, my darling sister.

My favorite sister being the 2 December borns in the family ! She was 18th & i her favorite 'Major Rotimi' 21st of Dec. It's being 20th years but unfortunately i couldn't attend your burial. It was a sad day for me to see my number 1 champion left the world without a whisper.
I am comforted by the fact that, we are all carrying on with the benefit of your grace, poise and strenght. You can't be happier that your legacy continues to shine brightly in the lives of your children and your siblings. Love radiates here and will continue to forever.

'You lives on forever in our mind', Adieu my beloved sister!
