I am the resurrection and the life: he who believes in me will live even when he dies.

Obituary

Born in Singapore in 1940, Dad was a classic Hakka success story. Starting with very little, he used his trademark "Wong street smarts" to build a beautiful life for our family. He was a man who truly practiced what he preached: he worked hard so he could play hard—and he certainly knew how to do both.

If you knew him, you knew "The Cheeky Grin." He held many titles—Provider, Father, Grandfather—but his unofficial favorite was Professional Troublemaker. He lived for a hearty laugh and a witty comeback. He was the grandchildren's favorite partner-in-crime (and the secret source of many $10 bills)!

He took great joy in making fun of Mom—sometimes pushing his luck just a little too far—but always with a twinkle in his eye that reminded us she was his world.

Dad didn't just live life; he savored it. He loved a good meal, traveling the world, and a good movie (we’ll never forget his stories of sneaking into cinemas as a kid!). Yet, nothing captured his spirit quite like karaoke. Whether he was hitting the high notes or just charming the room, he lived to sing. But above all else, he loved a "good talk." He could talk to anyone, about anything, and leave them with a smile.

While he was kind and gentle at his core, we will most remember the wit, the mischief, and the way he taught us that life is too short not to have a good laugh.

With hearts full of love and gratitude,I am thankful for my 三叔。
His life was a beautiful gift, and his presence wrapped our extended family in warmth, laughter, and gentle strength.
From the beginning, 三叔 had a way of turning ordinary moments into treasured stories. When he first began courting his beloved wife 三婶, he playfully recruited us kids as his “movie-date decoys,” pretending it was just an outing for the kids while his heart was quietly set on her. That trip to the movies blossomed into a lifetime of shared jokes, quiet support, and a love that made everyone around them feel that the world was a kinder place.
三叔 showed love not in grand speeches, but in small, steady acts of care that made each person feel special. To us, he was a gentle anchor: the uncle who would relentlessly tease us and then whisper sweet words of concern to us. His cheeky grin and twinkle in the eye clear the troubles away.
Though we feel the ache of his absence, his love lives on in every story we retell and every time we gather together, we will leave one chair open in our hearts just for him.
Till we meet again in Heaven 三叔!

We remember uncle’s generosity and friendliness, as friends of Lorraine &Paul. Uncle and aunty were always ready to say hello and have a chat when me meet them by chance. To us it was so lovely to meet parents of friends who stop to chat, and always with lightness and laughter. One memory was when we met them, at the then Tall Girl restaurant ( next to Holy Family church), when they surprised us by paying for our meal, without a second thought!

May choirs of angels come to greet uncle
May they speed him to paradise
May the Lord enfold him in His Mercy
May uncle rest in peace 🙏🏻

3 叔
The warmest person in our memories was always the one with a gentle smile and a playful spirit—especially during New Year gatherings and on my 阿 Ne’s birthday when we were young.

Our kids loved meeting 叔公’s during CNY, where his humor and smiles brought us so much joy.

After my 爸 retired, he often went for tea with 叔叔. He would always return home in a good mood—haha. I never really knew what they talked about, as my 爸 is a quiet, introverted person, but those moments clearly meant a lot to him.

These are just a small part of my memories of my 3 叔.

When my 爸 touched 叔叔
forehead and softly called out, (in Hakka) “刚强, 刚强,” while 叔叔 lay in a coma, my heart broke.

三叔,
Thank You, Rest Easy!
We all love you.
You will be deeply missed.

My third eldest brother was a kind hearted man. In my youth, our mother and I lived with him and my sao sao. Through their support, I was able to complete my school and university education. I still remember my graduation day when he and our mother attended my graduation ceremony. He said, “I am very happy you have fulfilled our father’s wish for you to graduate from university”. I will forever be grateful for his support, love and care. Farewell, dear brother. May you rest in peace and may the lord grant you eternal rest in heaven.

The world will miss this wonderful guy. The love and care he has shown for his sister Kim Ying is beyond words and truly exemplary. Thanks for being such a great little brother to my mum.

Hopefully our lord can find enough room for a guy with such a big heart and an even larger personality!

Goodbye for now 3Q...

I remember Thomas’ zest for karaoke. Those years of saturday afternoons spent in Keppel Club karaoke lounge will always bring back sweet memories. He is such a gentleman & always encouraging to others.
May Thomas continue to enjoy his passion for singing in heaven: he can now sing with the angels,🙏🙏.

Cousin Kong Tien is my fondest cousin and treated me as his youngest sister. I really missed him. May he can eat all the nice food and watch good movies in another place.
