Grief never ends… but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith… it is the price of love.

Eulogy

Wilson Chwa, beloved husband, and loving father, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on June 24, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on August 19, 1964, in Rangoon, Burma, he was the oldest of four children. He was a devoted son, husband, father and a big brother who cherished his family and friends. The family immigrated to the US in 1975, and subsequently settled in San Gabriel, CA. Wilson was part of his high school cross-country running team. He once successfully completed Santa Monica marathon and placed third.

Wilson embodied gentleness, patience, and peacefulness in his daily life, which was a testament to devotion and faith. Married to his beloved wife since 1998, Margaret, Wilson symbolizes the tranquility of a calm sea and steadfastness of an oak tree. He was an adoring father to his daughter, Megan, who was his pride and joy. His family was his world, and his actions always reflected his deep commitment to their well-being and happiness.

A devoted Christian, Wilson's life was shaped by his profound love for God. His faith was expressed not only through his participation in church activities but also through mission trips. He served as a high school youth counselor for almost a decade at his home church in Monterey Park. He participated in numerous short-term missions, traveling to Thailand, Burma, China and Berlin to offer his time, skills, and compassion to those in need. Recently, Wilson was an active member of Epicentre in Pasadena, where he found joy and contentment in serving the church and community.

Wilson found immense joy in simple, everyday pleasures. A homebody at heart, he loved gardening and could often be found tending to his plants, finding peace and fulfillment among nature's offerings. He loved taking photos of his flowers, plants and occasionally home-grown fruits and vegetables. He also loved taking photos of sunsets especially against the silhouette of his neighborhood. His frugality and penchant for bargain hunting were well-known among friends and family, and he always had a knack for finding the best deals.

Wilson had a love for traveling, especially with his wife and daughter. Sharing meals with his family, and savoring exotic flavors, that created lasting memories that they will hold onto dearly. The trio took every opportunity to capture sunsets either in their local or foreign destinations.  Whether it’s a beach vacation, a mountain getaway, or a cultural city exploration, family travels always bring them closer together.

In honoring Wilson's memory, we remember a man who, despite life’s trials, embodied patience, peace, and love. His legacy is one of devotion—both to his family and to his faith. Wilson's gentle spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

Wilson was my Alpha high school fellowship counselor at CEFC. You can say he played a big role in why I became an Alpha counselor. No matter how he was feeling. he always asked how I was doing. You could tell that he was genuine and caring. I thank God for Wilson in my life. Truly a good & faithful servant of God. You will be missed but look forward to seeing one another in heaven.

Wilson had walked in integrity and lived a godly life. His good deeds were admirable. Well done Wilson! Surely you also heard from our Heavenly Father last June 24, 2024 when you met Him. He said “Well done my son Wilson, welcome home!”

Uncle Wilson was someone who constantly loved others well, putting their needs above his own. When I think of Uncle Wilson, a phrase immediately comes to mind that I believe truly epitomizes his calm demeanor grounded in his faith. Whenever I complained about something or got hurt while riding the bicycle/scooter, he would almost always reply with, “Aww it’s okay! That’s okay, there’s always next time!” As a kid, I often felt inspired to see how he listened to others compassionately, with zero agenda. He simply listened out of empathy and a heart to truly make them feel better. Although I initially thought he just possessed an inexplicably calm demeanor, it didn’t take long for me to realize that he was so grounded in his faith that nothing could shake him. No doubt, I will miss Uncle Wilson’s steadfast smile, infectious laughter, and selfless heart, but I hope to live my life in a way that honors his legacy: loving others selflessly, persisting in the face of struggles with a smile, and inspiring others to trust in God’s plans no matter what.

Psalm 119:76 let your steadfast love comfort me, according to your promise to your servant. May the Lord be your hiding place provide you with breakthroughs as you face each day under the shadow of His wings. Wilson calm demeanor and cheerful spirit is one of a kind. My first time to meet Wilson was when we crash into their wedding night as a group. He didn’t asked us to leave the room. We all had a blast.,Margaret let me / Alaga friends know if you need anything. Be praying for you and Megan in the days ahead.

Kuey-Pe Wilson always inspired me with his optimism and cheerful heartedness no matter the occasion. One of my favorite memories was my first time camping, and it was with the Chwa family. My mom had accidentally forgotten to bring the tent's poles, and while we were debating about whether to sleep in the car, Kuey-Pe Wilson suggested we use their extra tent's poles. He joked that our tent would look wacky (and he was right), but we had a real camping experience that night thanks to his creative thinking. I like to think it was because of his positive, upbeat, and bright character that always allowed him to find solutions to obstacles in even the most mundane parts of life. May we take after his joyful outlook and carry his legacy.

I believe this verse truly characterizes him:
"Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and a good reputation
In the sight of God and man." Proverbs 3:3-4

Wilson displayed the gift of a servant’s heart. His helpfulness and patience were definitely generational blessings from his mom and dad, and we know it will continue to pass on to his daughter. The family gathering will not be the same without him, He will be greatly missed!!

What impressed me about Wilson was how calm, patient, and kind he was. He was a very content person. I don't remember him complaining about anything and he allows people to talk to him about most anything. He truly was a kind man.

Wilson is aman who is always cheerful and say hi to us first whenever we met him in the church or other events. He calls us by our names and he had good memory of people like us whom we meet once in Three years. His cheerful welcoming makes us comfortable and we feel at home seeing him in the church. He ask how we are doing and his heart for the Lord and the cares and concern he has shown to missionary has been great encouragement to us. I can't stop to praise God, now Wilson and Thang my husband will be dancing in God's presence with others saints who have gone before us, to welcome us in our true
home. "The Lord gave and the Lord have taken away, May His name be praise forever".
