Obituary
William Gregory Chlopek (Bill)
June 12, 1962 – February 14, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William (Bill) Chlopek, who left this world mysteriously on February 14, 2025, at the age of 63. William, affectionately known to his friends and family as "Billy," was living in St. Thomas, illuminating the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Billy's extraordinary capacity for kindness and generosity defined his interactions with both strangers and friends alike. Whether lending a hand to those in need or sharing his infectious humor to lift the mood of a room, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Sailing was not merely a hobby for Bill; it was a way of life. Bill was an expert sailor for most of his life and survived many a storm and hurricane, so it was inconceivable that Bill would be lost to the sea.
Youngest of five, Bill is survived by his four siblings, John Chlopek (Mary) of Lostine, Oregon, Katy Bergholz (John) of Oak Park, Illinois, James Chlopek (My) of Skokie, Illinois, and Michael Chlopek (Gigi Baker) of Atlanta, Georgia, and nieces and nephews, John, Karl, Isobel, and Emma Bergholz, Griffin Chlopek, Christopher, and Edward Chlopek. His girlfriend, Julia Mioduszewska, and her son, Leo Voss. He also leaves behind treasured friendships and countless others who will remember him for his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable sense of humor.
Fair winds and following seas, dear Billy.. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Admit that Billy is gone
His chosen method of exit left us with a mystery
We didn’t get to say goodbye
Wherever he is I wish him fair weather and following seas.
