Obituary

William “Billy” Drake
May 4, 2004 – July 4, 2020

William “Billy” Drake, aged 16, from Mayfield, NY. Born on May 4, 2004, Billy left us far too soon on July 4, 2020.

Billy was a beloved member of both his family and the wider community. His infectious smile and boundless energy for life brightened the days of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Whether it was spending time with friends swinging off the rope swing, casting a line in the water while fishing, or simply hanging out, Billy's joy was evident in everything he did. He thrived on adventure and was always looking for the next exciting escapade.

Billy's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. His family, friends, and all who knew him miss him deeply every day. While we mourn the loss of such a vibrant young soul, we also celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the lasting impact he had on our hearts.

Rest in peace, Billy. You will always be remembered and forever loved.

From birth Williams favorite person was his older brother Johnathan. He would just watch him and as soon as he was able to, he followed him. Johnathan is 3 years older but they were so close and looked so alike people asked if they were twins. John would pull him around in his tractor and they would help grandma in the garden. Everything John did Billy did. They had the perfect friendship and it never waned. One of the funniest things Billy would do is narrate Johnathan’s life in an Australian accent 😂 God I miss those days

I will always miss the memories with you bill I remember the day that we were play the game when I was little and I had gotten mad and to cheer me up you had climbed on me and started kissing me until I would start laughing. There are plenty more memories so many that it would take me years to name them all. I hope you are having fun in heaven. I love you so much and always will

Billy always called me his little sis. I remember one day he was picking dead flowers off of my mom’s plant and i was watching him. He said “Hey Riles, do i look silly?” and when i looked at him he had flowers poking out of his nose. I started laughing so then he gave me flowers and I stuck them up my nose too.
Billy also let me paint his nails whenever I wanted to. He was like an older brother to me. One of the best!!!

Willam was in his room one day watching “The Umbrella Academy “. I was in my room folding laundry and the house was quiet. All of a sudden he burst through the door, “Mom you gotta come see this! I’m watching this show and everyone was sad and alone in their rooms, and one of them turned this song on and started dancing. Then the rest of the house heard it and they all started dancing! And then they were all happy! You can’t listen and not be happy! Come on! Come see it!” So we ran to his room and I laughed when I realized that it was Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now”. But he was right! We listened to it and then couldn’t help but start dancing. He made everyone listen to it, even the basketball team on the bus during an away game. It’s one of my favorite memories because it embodies him perfectly. He just wanted everyone to be happy and to have fun. I’ll never be able to listen to it without thinking of him bursting through my door and changing a dreary day into a dance party!
