But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Obituary
Warren Hughes Day, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Hughes and Lorene Day, his brother-in-law Brent, and his sister-in-law, Helen.
Born on April 26, 1945, Warren lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and genuine care for others. He loved the Lord and sought to reflect that love through the way he treated everyone he met. Warren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought comfort, encouragement, and strength to countless lives.
Above all else, Warren's greatest love was for his Lord, his beloved wife, Barb, and his family. He and Barb shared 58 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, love, and commitment. He was a proud father to his daughters: Rachel (Kurt) and Michele (Chad), and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren: Jacob (Jessie), Kendra, Anna (Blake), Caleb, and Micah. The time he spent with them was among his life's greatest joys. He is also survived by his brother, Howard; his sister, Kathy (Glenn); and many extended family members and dear friends.
Warren faithfully served with African Inland Mission for 49 years, ministering in Kenya, New York, and throughout the Midwest. His work reflected his deep commitment to sharing the love of Christ and supporting the global mission of the Church. Through decades of faithful service, he built lasting relationships and touched countless lives with his encouragement, wisdom, and steadfast faith.
Warren also found great joy in fishing, hunting, and golf. Whether on the water, in the woods, or on the golf course, he appreciated the beauty of God's creation and the fellowship of family and friends.
Those who knew Warren will remember his remarkable ability to encourage others. He cared deeply about each and every person he encountered, taking time to listen, support, and uplift. Though humble and unassuming, his influence was profound. He was a quiet giant—a man of steady faith, gentle strength, and unwavering kindness.
Warren's legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly, the friends he faithfully encouraged, and the many lives he touched through his compassion, wisdom, and example. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family rejoices in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the Savior he loved, trusted, and faithfully served throughout his life.
A memorial service celebrating Warren's life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at City Church, 1501 W. 54th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to City Church (citychurchmpls.org), where Warren and Barb faithfully worshiped and served for many years, or to Little Hospice (littlehospice.org), whose compassionate caregivers lovingly cared for Warren during the final two weeks of his life.
Warren will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love of family and friends, and the kindness and humility with which he lived his life. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
