I have known Vita for years. First as Frank's wife, then as my investment counselor. That is when our friendship grew. I loved her straightforwardness and humor. We tried to lunch frequently at her favorite place, Aunt Mary's on Perryville. In 2018, I moved to Central Illinois, but we still had lunch when I would come up to have my taxes done. In recent years it became harder to carry on a conversation, but then Frank would join us and it was much easier. I will miss our lunches, but most of all I will miss my dear friend. Rest in peace Vita

I remember when Aunt Vita was a substitute teacher for me in 1st grade at St Mary Incornata. So proud that my Aunt was my teacher. One of the kindest souls I’ve ever encountered. So non-judgmental, she transcended generational gaps. I’ll miss her phone calls and texts, but most of all her beautiful smile.

Brains and Beauty, Kind and thoughtful. Aunt Vita was the complete package—the real deal. Growing up while living with her at my Grandparents’ home was a gift. She was my big “sister” and role model. Her example helped set my sights on going to college. And then, I enjoyed a front row seat to her dates with her tall, dark, and handsome boyfriend and eventual husband, a romance that lasted 57 years. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. My heartfelt sympathy to Uncle Frank, Frankie, Michael, Kathleen, her grandchildren (who she was so proud of) and your families. Aunt Vita will be missed. I will miss her. 💔May her memory be a blessing. ❤️
Favorites
Favorite travel destination
Vita enjoyed traveling and did so extensively with Frank. Her favorite place to visit was Italy. Her first trip there was in 1979.
What was Vita's favorite Restaurant?
Cafe ROMA, her son Frank's restaurant, was obviously her favorite! She also loved going to Mon Ami Gabi in Las Vegas to enjoy dining al fresco while watching the Bellagio fountain.
Favorite Drinks
Coffee, champagne and vodka gimlets
Vita's favorite Sports Team
White Sox! Vita was very happy when the White Sox won the World Series in 2005. She grew up by Comiskey Park and you could see the fireworks from her childhood home. When they tore the original park down she bought a seat that resides in her home in Belvidere.
Fave Color
Green was her favorite color like her birthstone the Peridot.
Favorite Hobby
Vita was an exemplary baker. Every year at Christmas she made thousands of cookies and cannolis. Everyone waited patiently for Frank and her to deliver a special cookie tray with all of the classic Italian specialities.
