May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.  May the sun shine warm upon your face.  The rains fall soft upon your fields. And, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of  His hand.

Obituary

Dear Family and Friends,
Our mom passed away in her sleep early in the morning on July 4, 2025.  The week before, she was blessed to have Patti and Dwayne, Joe and all of Patti's daughters, Megan, Anna and Kristen visit her.  Each of us had a special time of connection with her and she was so grateful to have family nearby.  Kathy was able to video with her the night before and is so grateful being so far away to live in a time with video!
We wanted to offer this online memorial in lieu of a funeral service for a time of sharing memories.   She has been cremated and will be buried at Ressurection Cemetary in Kansas City at a date later this year in a private family gathering.

We want to share a few thoughts about Mom as we say goodbye to her after 95 remarkable years.
Even in her final chapter, Mom never lost her sharp sense of humor. She had a way of lighting up a room—not with grand gestures, but with her warmth, wit, and that unmistakable twinkle in her eye.  Her caretakers adored her. They always told us that she was their "favorite" because she was so grateful and always smiling. She was always fun to be around, never wanted to be a burden, and somehow made even the ordinary feel special. She had a keen interest in people she met along the way asking questions and listening intently. Her observant wit delighted everyone around her! The picture above was taken only 3 weeks before she passed.
She taught us—through her actions more than her words—that kindness, laughter, and love are what truly matter. That even in the face of aging and loss, there is still room for connection, for music, and for joy.

We’ll miss her deeply, but  hope we can all carry a piece of her spirit with us: her humor, her grace, and her quiet strength.

Virginia always had a sparkle! Once, she and I were tasked with cutting fresh pineapple for a party at Patti’s - it was a LOT of pineapple… Virginia made it fun and kept everyone in the kitchen laughing as we worked. I will always remember another enjoyable day spent in Galveston with Virginia, Patti & Dwayne - shopping, eating and sightseeing. Virginia shared her joy as we strolled along. She always made the day more pleasant. It was an honor to know her. 💟
