Obituary

With the deepest sense of the absoluteness of eternity and the wonder of life, we announce the passing of a firm daughter of God, Victoria Vivian Adenuwa Bara-Hart (née-Thompson).

Mother, Grandmother, friend, comforter, counselor and inspiration of too many great souls.

Born on the 6th of November 1944 in Lagos to Robert and Alice Thompson and delivered by the First Lord Mayor of Lagos, Dr. Abubakar Ibiyinka Olorun-Nimbe, she went on to have an impactful life starting with Queens College Lagos, the sister institution of King's College Lagos, where her father also studied. In her career, she worked in Public Relations with Shell, and went on to become Executive Director of GPLAN with the late Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun. Beyond this, she was involved in maritime business with the late Admiral Godwin Ndubuisi Kanu at an international level and supported several other consultancies, as well as being an avid businesswoman.

Victoria will be remembered as a woman of courage, character, and utmost and abiding love. Her warm and genial nature extended into the care of a great many people in too many ways to count. Her interactions stretched across society at every level from the humblest to the most stellar and she knew no limitations in terms of sacrifice and grace.

In her later years, challenged by arthritis she showed formidable strength up till the very end. And in her name, the Adenuwa Foundation for Arthritis and Elder Care is created.

Fly on great spirit, into the heavens made for those like you.
Love,
Your Son,
Senibo Bara-Hart

Senior Vicky was very much my senior in QC. I was in Form 1 in 1965 when she was in Upper Sixth class; yet I felt her inner beauty and kindness. Later on we reconnected through other school mates and her son Jonathan when he came to Ecowas.
Snr Vicky was warm, kind and forever smiling. You feel comfortable in her presence.
May the angels welcome your home coming and smile on you as I believe that you have gone with the big, beautiful smile that we all know you with. Rest in eternal peace dear Senior Vicky

I write this with sadness in my heart. I remember our last conversation in May, Never did i fathom that the conversation will be our last. Your last days you were in agony but God knows best. I’m happy that you always saw me as one of your children at the same time i am sad that i now have to speak about you in past tense. May your sweet soul Rest in Peace.

Tribute to a woman of Grace;
Sister Victoria Bara Hart was a very loving, warm, resilient and strong woman who loved the Lord and walked according to His ways.
She was an active member of The Torch Bearers Society of All Saints' Church Yaba.
She will be sorely missed by all of us .
My dear aunty, you have come, seen and conquered. You conquered sickness, pain, worries and finally death.
There awaits you a glorious crown by your maker.
Sleep on peacefully in the bosom of your Saviour till we meet again.
Adieu to a great woman.
