A Tribute to My Uncle, Pa Ubald Ochieze
With deep sense of sorrow, we remember a man whose bond with my father showed us the true meaning of brotherhood. My uncle wasn’t just a brother to him — he was his close friend, his support and his lifelong companion.
To us, he taught that family is built through kindness, loyalty and standing by one another. His lessons weren’t spoken as much as they were lived and through his example we learned how to care for each other.
His wisdom, presence and sharp memory helped to shape our family and his spirit of brotherhood will stay with us always. May we honour him by living the values he showed us.
Rest in peace, Uncle. We will surely miss you. May God rest your gentle and loving soul.

A great tree has fallen, a raregem has taken his exit.
To die in a good old age and be gathered to one's father's is an honour bestowed by God which many desire but few attain, yours is worth celebrating.
If I recall God's promise to Abraham, as recorded in Gen. 15:15, and it says " And you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried in a good old age.
Papa, you were filled with wonder and amazement at the Lord's great mercy on you. While we glorify God for his goodness and mercy, Papa we find it hard not to weep. At least some tears must flow, not only because we now miss your fatherly presence with it's aura of tranquility.
When everyone is together under the shadowing presence of a recognized head that embodies authority then there is Atmosphere of peace, love and security, such was the presence of Papa in the family.
You were a man with a large heart, a disciplinarian, a man who always stood on the side of truth and fairness.
You were formidable, hard working and diligent. Your gentleness and sweetness transgraced with the traits of sacrifice and persistence as well as the resilance you portral.
The mammoth gathering here today of diverse personalities is an eloquent testimony of your infectious presence and impact on the lives of many.
You were a man of peace, a legend of his people, a raregem unaccustomed to controversy.
Papa you came, and you saw it all, you have taken your exit, just like those before you, but you left a land mark.
Goodnight Papa, rest in the bossom of the Lord.

Today, as a family, we gather to honour and celebrate the life of our In-law the late pa Ubald Ochieze. To us, he was more than just a relative he was heart of our family, the one whose wisdom and presence shaped who we are today.
Dear In-law, life's journey unfolds like the days stages sunrise midday, and sunset our creator designed this rhythm to remind us of life's ebbs and flows. We fondly called you papa Nnamdi and during our time together, we witnessed your exceptional qualities cerebral articulate, analytical, kind compassionate and generous. Your love for family was unwavering extending to siblings and your immediate family. We saw the fruit of your labour return to you, and as sunset approached you persevered like a soldier. Your resilience inspired unparalleled support from Loved ones demonstrating that goodness and kindness reap abundant rewards. As you rest in eternity, know that your legacy lives on through the seeds you have sown especially your children. They will reap the harvest of your love and dedication.
Farewell, papa Nnamdi. May your soul find eternal peace.
With love and respect.

FUNERAL TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED MATRILINEAL COUSIN, LATE PA, UBALD OTUOKETEONYE OCHIEZE (NZE OK PARA UKAOMA). When a new baby arrives, the news is heralded with pomps and peasantry. But when the proverbial bell rolls, it heralds the passage of that same child that has grown into adulthood.
While a man lived, his life is measured not only by longevity, but also by the positive ways his life has impacted the lives of those around him. This assertion explains the life and times of Pa U. O. Ochieze.
As I was growing up among my maternal siblings, late Ubald was the very person who made my siblings and I understand that there is a strong bond and affection among our relatives outside our immediate patrilineal family. He ensured that our mother (his aunt) was well taken care of while my siblings and I were still young.
After my graduation from the Technical College, he invited me to Nkalagu where he eventually secured employment for me at Nigerian Cement Company Limited (NIGERCEM) Nkalagu. This period marked the advent of my Engineering Career. During my early years at Nkalagu, while I still lived with his family, Pa Ubald Ochieze and his wife, Mrs. Juliana Ochieze, of blessed memory, showered me with care and attention. He encouraged me to continue my studies in order to improve my position. Even after leaving Nkalagu, and still following his advice, I was able to graduate from The University of Lagos. He was always very proud of me.
Ubadi, as my mother fondly called him, was instrumental to my successful Engineering Career spanning over thirty-five years, both in Nigeria and U.S.A.
Unfortunately, the man-made insecurity that plagued our land for over four years, and the consequent fate that befell our family made it difficult for me to be by his side during the final days of his life. It is true that you are gone, but your memory will be indelible in my heart.
May Almighty God in His infinite mercy grant your soul a glorious entry into His eternal kingdom. GOOD NIGHT SIR, as I hold back tears.

I remembered the last time we sat together, we cracked jokes , and you gave me adviced and your blessing. I didn't know that was the last time i will enjoy such jokes with you. I was so sad when i came back from school and heard the bad news, that you are dead. Oh death, you have dealt with me. I know and believe we will all go one day, but it never occurred to me that it will be soon. I am pained ! I wish you eternal bliss wherever you are because you deserve the very best. Thank you for our beautiful moments. Thank you for loving me . I pray that GOD makes me your grandson in the next life and i am optimistic that i shall meet you again. I love you grandpa ❤️ . Thank you for everything . Rest on grandpa , rest in the bosom of your creator where there is no more pain and suffering. Rest in perfect peace until we meet to part no more. Your lovely grandson . We gather here today to honor our beloved Grandpa
a truly good man whose light will never fade.
His character was defined by an unwavering love for his family and the principles he instilled in us. He insisted we learn and speak our mother tongue, reminding us that our identity is our strength.
Grandpa was intensely particular about our education, seeing it as the key to a better life. But his most essential teaching was about unity. He stressed that we must never leave our siblings and cousins behind.
His legacy is the knowledge that we have only each other.
We promise to honor him by staying together, learning always, and supporting the unbreakable family bond he created.
Rest in perfect peace, Grandpa.

Today, we gather to honor the life of my beloved Grandpa , a man whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and wisdom into every moment we shared. Grandpa was a lovely soul, full of stories about his childhood and his youthful days working in Nkalagu. He lived a big, vibrant life, rich with experiences he loved to share.
He had a phrase he repeated often: “Those wey get am no want am, and those wey want am no get am.” It always made me smile. And Grandpa also loved to say, “I’m watching my stomach.” I remember following in his steps as I grew into a young lady. It makes me laugh each time I recall it, because he only said that when we gave him excess food whenever he came to stay for the holidays.
One piece of advice he gave me that I’ll never forget was: “Ada, whatever is worth doing is worth doing well.” He urged me to stay focused, to let school pass through me as I passed through it, and to believe in my greatness.
Grandpa adored being surrounded by his grandchildren; those moments were his joy.
Today, I hold onto those memories deeply. Grandpa lives on in us , in our laughter, our choices, and our hearts. Always.

Today, we honor the life of my grandfather, a man whose presence shaped so much of who I am. Grandpa was a source of comfort and encouragement.
Growing up, whenever he came around to spend time with my siblings and I, he brought warmth into our home. His stories, laughter, and calm way of speaking made every moment feel special. Throughout my university years, Grandpa would call me, pray for me, and speak confidence into my life. He always said this to me, “God is with you, my son. He will grant your desires.” I still carry those words in my heart.
His faith, his gentleness, and his belief in my future are gifts I will carry for the rest of my life.
Though we feel the pain of his absence, we also celebrate the beauty of his life and the love he poured into our family. His legacy lives in our hearts.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
Adieu, Grandpa.

*A TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED FRIEND AND BROTHER.*
Chief Ubadi Ochieze! as I used to call you. Your death came as shocking news to me.
Anyway, I thank God in everything because, He alone knows the best.
Chief Ubadi Ochieze! You lived a well and disciplined Christianity life. I really loved, cherished and appreciate the way you lived your life, that was why I choose you to work with me as my Financial Secretary, when I worked as the Parish Council Chairman at St. John's Parish Amannachi.
Although, it was very hard for you to accept my request because, your first tenor has finished with the other former Parish Council Committees; but you looked at me with a kind and lovely heart, and accepted my request without minding the difference between our age (as my senior).
Thank you so much for your Love, Kindness and Truthfulness.
I pray that the Almighty God will grant your soul eternal rest in heaven. AMEN!!!
ADIEU! My beloved brother.
ADIEU!! My lovely friend.

A Tribute to a Brave, Noble, Great and Loving Dad.
My Dad lived 91 beautiful years on earth and I'm grateful for every moment I shared with him. He was more than a parent to me, he was my confidant and my guide.
Whenever we get to talk on the phone our conversations always start with me calling him Otuokereonye mgbeokwo and he'll always respond with, nwa mgbeke otuokereonye.
Losing him has left a space no one can fill, but I carry his values and lessons with me everyday. I thank God for the gift of being his daughter and for the deep bond we shared.
He lived well and loved deeply. I will always miss you but I will also celebrate you, in another life I will always chose you to be my Dad. I love you but God loves you more. Farewell Otuokereonye, Farewell Nze Okpara Ukaoma. Rest in peace till we meet to part no more.

A SOULFUL FAREWELL TO A TITAN
Pa Ubald O. Ochieze was not just an uncle, but our patriarch and an inseparable brother and friend of my late father, Chief Sir Felix N. Ochieze. Their rare kind of perfect brotherhood is a model worthy of emulation.
"Nwanna", in my father's voice, was a giant among men - sharp, witty, and strong. An ever-present father, right from my childhood days till recently at the funeral of my late father.
Now reunited with his brother, may his magnificent soul rest in peace. Farewell, Uncle.

TRIBUTE TO A GREAT UNCLE
Today, we gather to celebrate the life of a great uncle who meant so much to our family. He was a man of wisdom, kindness, and quiet strength. His presence brought comfort, his words gave guidance, and his actions spoke louder than words.
Our great uncle lived a life marked by integrity and dedication to family. He believed in hard work, respect for others, and doing what is right even when no one was watching. He was a source of encouragement and a role model to both the young and the old.
He shared his stories, laughter, and life lessons freely, leaving behind memories we will always cherish. Though he may no longer be with us physically, his legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the love he showed.
We thank God for the gift of his life and for the time we shared with him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

A tribute to a loving brother.
This is my tribute to my brother, who stood for me as a father, losing you is like losing a piece of our father. You have been a comforter, defender and a protector. For being a father figure,a big protective brother, and always ready to listen to me, may heaven receive you with open arms and grant you eternal rest, amen.
It's the word of God that came to pass and I can't querry God. It's going to be lonely without you. This is me saying goodbye to you on this your journey you are on.
Victoria is appreciative that I had a brother like you. I love you but heaven has gained a good soul.
Till we meet to part no more.

TRIBUTE FROM DR PDC AMAGWULA TO MY DEAR UNCLE:
In all things and in every situation, we should give thanks to God.
Your exit, (though very painful to us ) is the will of God at this time( 1Thess 5:18). His time has always been the best including the situation we find ourselves now.
For me personally, it will be very hard to let go of the warm relationship we shared together right from my childhood.
I take solace in the fact that you lived a good life while on Earth and I have no iota of doubt that you are resting peacefully with your creator.
It is true that our usual regular physical contact/visit was put to a temporary halt for about 4 whole years due to the ravaging insecurity at home, but I had always have you in mind and wondering when we shall see again. Suddenly and by God’s grace there came a truce and I quickly rushed home to have glimpse of you. From the little moment we shared together that day, I realized you were actually waiting for that last embrace with me before answering the natures call to come home.
I can confidently describe you as a man of great virtue. You lived a life worthy of emulation, a life of truthfulness always. Many who came in contact with you in one way or the other will attest to your straight forward nature.
If actually there is anything like reincarnation, I will very much appreciate we come together again as Uncle and Nephew.
Rest well uncle until we meet to part no more at the bosom of the Lord.
Dr PDC Amagwula.

FAREWELL TO A BELOVED ONE*
It is very difficult to say goodbye to a very dear one, for relationship that lasted for years. It translated from Nwunee as we fondly called to stepson. You were my mentor, coach, confidant and dependable Ally. However as a firm believer in the word of God (Psalm 90:12), I have no choice but to say rest in the bosom of the Almighty God. A good man of Justice, fairness, good name; I sincerely say thank you for standing for my family and I when we were passing through storms of Life. Your life was well spent. Goodbye and rest on in the Lord. Elder and Deaconess Vincent Nwabichie.

Daddy,
It breaks me to know I will never see you again, yet I find comfort in the truth that heaven has gained an angel. You lived an exemplary life—one that touched, shaped, and uplifted me and countless others.
You molded my life into the man av become today. You stepped into the role of a father at every step of my life, even when i was getting married, i never came back home because i had confidence in you, and you never disappointed.
Daddy, you were like a lamp kept on a high fence. You gave light to so many people.
I know right now you are narrating to my Dad (Your friend) how you took care of his little boy he left when he was only 3 years old, please tell him how proud of me you are, how you have been my guidance and teacher, but please tell him I would love to see his face one day.
I wish you could have stayed longer Daddy, but my heart is at peace because I know you are in a better place. If you are not in heaven, I don’t know who heaven was made for.
Though I will miss you deeply, but I am not weighed down by sorrow because I know you are in heaven watching over us and interceding on our behalf.
You were kind, intentional, disciplined, clean hearted, loyal, resourceful, articulated, and brilliant. Thank you for every sacrifice, every lesson, and every moment of love.
La n'udo Ezigbo mmadu, we will meet to part no more Daddy.

TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR DAD
Dear Dad,
Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your love, wisdom and legacy will live on forever in our hearts. 91years of life, filled with laughter, lessons and love, have left an indelible mark on our lives. You were a rock, a guiding light, and a constant source of strength to us all. Your memory will continue to inspire and comfort us, and we will strive to live our lives with the same kindness, compassion, and generosity that you embodied. Rest in peace dear Dad. We love you more than words can express.
Mr & Mrs Thaddeus .N, Ochieze.

Some men shape the world with their words you did it with presence and heart.
The love you gave remains woven into our lives.
You’ll always be remembered, Grandad. Rest in peace.

A TRIBUTE TO MY UNCLE
With deep sense of sorrow and tears in my eyes, I write this tribute to my dear uncle.
Uncle Ubald was my father’s elder brother and close friend. They did so many things together, ate together, and enjoyed each other's company. Anytime we came to the village, it was commonplace to see them together.
According to my late dad, Chief Sir Felix N. Ochieze, KSJ, their close relationship dated back to when they were very young. After they lost their parents, Uncle Ubald helped in paying my dad’s secondary education at Holy Ghost College Owerri. Dad, in return, took Uncle Ubald’s first son, Martin Ochieze, to live with him, enrolled and sponsored his secondary education at Federal Government College Idoani. That was how inseparable, interconnected, and interdependent the two brothers were.
Therefore, it was not surprising that Dad’s death would hit Uncle Ubald and affect him so negatively.
Uncle Ubald was the head and patriarch of our Umuezikeze kindred. He was wise, witty, and gave invaluable advice. Indeed, the Iroko has fallen.
We take consolation in the fact that he lived a good life, and we believe that he is resting in the Lord’s bosom.
Rest in peace, Uncle. You will be sorely missed.

A tribute to my brother-in-law, Massa Ubald
Massa Ubald as I called him was a brother-in-law whom I was very fond of. He was very special to me, via my husband.
I remember him, most especially, over the remarkable role he played with his late elder brothers, over my marriage rites, since my husband, Chief Sir Felix N. Ochieze was living far away.
Massa Ubald was a close brother and friend to my husband. He broke down on the demise of his brother, my husband. Since then, he became sick and was bedridden due to the separation.
Opportunity took me home in April 2025 and I had that singular last privilege once again to take care of him. We stayed pretty well till when I told him about my leaving. He became downcast, held my hands, and prayed for me, but still asked when next he would see me. I promised that I would see him later in the year, not knowing that death would strike. With his exit, I have lost my husband and all his brothers. Death, why?
My thoughts were always with him, and it led to my calling every week to check on or speak with him, depending on the availability of Chijioke and his wife, or the data/recharge.
I know we would all pass one day, but I wished he had stayed much longer. I pray that God will accept his soul in His heavenly kingdom.
Now that you have reunited with your siblings, parents, and loved ones, stay well and send my greetings to them, especially to my husband, Chief Sir Felix N. Ochieze.
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I will miss you.
Adieu Massa.
Rest on till we meet again on the Resurrection morning.

Dad,It is hard to believe that we are not going to see you anymore, haven gone the way of all flesh.
However, your fond memories will forever live with us. Your positive energy and your disposition to always support one morally and otherwise will be missed.
You lived your years with strength, humility and a heart full of love. You gave us the very best you could afford, not necessarily through riches, but through sacrifice, guidance and unwavering support.
You showed us the right path in life, teaching us values that would remain with us forever.
We are grateful for your wisdom, quiet strength and the love you poured into your family, whilst teaching us contentment .
We will surely miss you.Adieu papa. May your soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
