A loving tribute written by Tyler's Fiancée Alex
Tyler was a cherished soul who made a lasting impact in the footprint of our lives. His presence lit up the room like lighters at a concert, or like the constellations in the sky. His love was sprinkled throughout each of our journeys with him.
Born on November 27, 1985 to Cindy and Doug Brown in Edmonton, Tyler grew up in Alberta with his brother Curtis and sister Amy. He was very close with extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandparents including Ed and Rose Kay. Tyler also always considered his friends to be his family too. As a young adult Tyler traveled the world, and lived and worked in places like Florida and New Zealand. Tyler did not let his job dictate who he was, but instead along the way, he mentored and inspired so many. He eventually made roots back in Edmonton and created a beautiful family. He is survived by his fiancé Alex and their dogs Venus and Leo who all adored Tyler to pieces and told him every day that he was the best. The love so many have for Tyler could fill every hockey arena, and still the arenas would overflow.
His life was marked by the kindness, compassion, humor and love he brought to each relationship and endeavor. He was everybody’s cheerleader and biggest fan. He made friends with every stranger that crossed his path, because he was just ‘that nice guy’. He was so genuine and authentically himself, the ultimate legend of a man. His smile was radiant, his laughter was contagious, and his beautiful mind was deeply intricate. He wanted to truly understand the depths of the universe and our connection through time and space. He felt energy could never be destroyed, just displaced on another universal timeline. Let us forever be inspired by Tyler and his ability to see more than what is right in front of us, and to connect with the things that are truly meaningful.
Tyler was a special kind of soul. He always had a good pun at the ready. He was incredibly intelligent and was always happy to share his wealth of knowledge. Tyler was an avid gamer, hockey player and basically a pro golfer. His advice was always to not take the game too seriously and to just have fun-a lesson we could all learn from him. He was handy and crafty, especially with each of his fiancé’s Pinterest projects. Tyler’s hidden talent was winning every rainy day Scrabble game. Music, movies and trying new restaurants gave him great joy. He was an awesome cook. He really valued slowing down to enjoy the simple things in life that mean the most. Tyler took a stand on human rights and was incredibly non-judgmental, his compassion had a ripple effect. He left behind loving families, friends, his dogs, and fiancé; none of who would be who they are without him, and all of who will be forever grateful for having walked along side him. Until we meet again he is deeply missed. We celebrate Tyler today and every day, and will forever love him.
