Thu Huynh Tinh

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.

Obituary

Thu Huynh Tinh was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by resilience, generosity and unconditional love. She passed away peacefully on Friday May 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family after having courageously battled cancer for 11 years. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

After emigrating from Vietnam in 1975, Thu persevered through hardship with strength and determination, working tirelessly to create a stable and loving home for her family in New Britain, CT. With her husband of 60 years, Nhi A. Tinh, together they built a life centered on family and care for one another.

Thu was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother who adored her eight grandchildren. She cherished time spent with them, sharing meals, laughter, and stories. She also deeply loved her fur baby, Daisy, who was always by her side. A gifted storyteller, Thu often shared her childhood experiences to preserve the Vietnam history and culture through her words. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, filled with the comforting aromas of her delicious Vietnamese cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Nhi A. Tinh; her two sons, Vu Tinh and his wife Wendy Tinh of Temecula, CA; Duc Tinh of Winsted, CT; her three daughters, Nguyet Tinh of Berlin, CT, Hoang Wood and her husband, Stephen Wood of West Hartford, CT; and Quynh Sell and her husband, Julian Sell of Seattle, WA. Thu also leaves behind her eight treasured grandchildren: Nate, Elise, Audrey, Connor, Damian, Calvin, Ryland, and Jonah.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 5-8pm on Friday May 29, 2026 at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Thu's funeral service will be on Saturday May 30, 2026 at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 am, burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford.
