Theresa Laflamme

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.
Obituary
Theresa (Terri) Ellen Laflamme August 21, 1962 – July 17, 2025 Terri Laflamme, 62, of Midland, Ontario passed away on July 17, 2025 at Hospice Huronia in Penetang, ON. Terri was born in Halifax NS at the Grace Maternity Hospital, to the late Anne Catherine (Stokes) Laflamme and Gerald Laflamme. She is survived by her daughter Anne Catherine Wilcox; ex-husband, John Wilcox; brother, John-Paul Laflamme; sister Katherine Anne Laflamme and nephew Quenemar Laflamme. She was predeceased by her infant brother, Michael Denis Laflamme. Terri spent her childhood in Nova Scotia. At eighteen years old, she moved to Ontario to live with her aunt Bonnie (Stokes) O’Rourke. She spent her adult life in Midland ON, where she graduated from Midland Secondary School, worked for many years at Kinark Child and Family Services, married John and raised their daughter, Anne. Later in life, she attended Georgian College as a mature student and received a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology - Automated Systems (2000). After a brief co-op at Expertech, she was a technical writer at Avionics Design Services in Midland for over 20 years. But it was on the trail, the pavement and through the mud that Terri felt most alive. A passionate runner, Terri loved trail running and obstacle course races. Across the country, she competed in over 20 races, from the Grouse Grind Mountain Run in Vancouver BC to multiple Warrior Dashes and Spartan Runs in Ontario to the Pirate Run in Eastern Passage NS. She relished the physical activity, the challenge, the community and the sense of triumph that came from pushing her limits. Family and friends may remember Terri as strong-willed, stubborn, and intense at times; a person who gave her all in her chosen pursuits. Thinking of Terri also brings to mind her witty banter and, sometimes indelicate, sense of humour. It was shenanigans until the very end. If there was fun to be had, Terri was always eager to engage in activities with family and friends. She was also someone you wanted in your corner in a crisis; she had your back. She will be dearly missed. A celebration of Terri’s life will take place Monday, July 21, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Brooklea Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Terri’s family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of Hospice Huronia for their compassionate care during her time there.

I had the privilege of working with Teri for nearly 20 years. Her sharp wit, infectious humour, and—yes—even her perfectly timed sarcasm never failed to bring a smile to my face.
Goodbye, my friend. You will be deeply missed.
She ran her first Spartan Race after being diagnosed with cancer, wore white fleece to a mud race, and did lunges with a broken back like it was just another Tuesday.
She loved hard, showed up loud, and always pushed through everything life threw at her like it was no big deal.
Here's to the next adventure my friend.
