Obituary

Terry Teval Whitehead, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 31, 2024, at the age of 51. Born on November 19, 1973, in Suffolk, VA, Terry was a man whose life radiated love, faith, and an enduring spirit.

Terry shared a deep and unwavering bond with his beloved wife, Shauna Whitehead. Together, they embodied a partnership and covenant filled with mutual respect and love, enjoying their recent years in Orlando, Florida to the fullest. Terry was a proud  father to six children and three grandchildren, instilling in them the values and faith that he held dear whenever he could. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a pillar of strength and love for all those who knew him.

A man of profound faith, Terry consistently spoke of his confidence in heaven, finding comfort in his spirituality and sharing this peace with his loved ones. His belief was a guiding light in his life, one that he generously shared with family and friends, offering hope and reassurance in the face of adversity.

Terry's passion extended beyond his family and faith; he had a heartfelt love for animals, especially through his cherished Adhere Cane Corso legacy, a testament to his dedication and affection for his fur babies.

He is survived by his three siblings in Virginia, who remember him fondly and hold dear the countless memories they created together. Terry's affection for his family was matched only by his loyalty and commitment to friends, community, and his faith.

As we commemorate Terry's life, we celebrate a man who was not only a loving husband and father but also a beacon of faith and optimism. His legacy continues in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him, and his spirit lives on through the love he showered on everyone he met. Terry's enduring impact will be felt for generations, as those who loved him carry forward the beautiful lessons and memories he leaves behind.

Remembering through Music

Terry's life was lived out loud through his bold and no-nonsense voice and sayings of wisdom and love while speaking out life through music and worship.  Every song had meaning and a story behind every word for Terry.  Everyday he used music to express his thoughts, feelings and his view on life.  The song "Bow Out" playing on this memorial page is an example of this and how he used worship to express his unique God-given ability to have foresight into the future. Terry often talked about looking forward to heaven and consistently talked to his wife Shauna about continuing his love and protection for her even when he wasn't here on earth. Terry worshipped as a man everyday looking forward to heaven, so even in the sadness we rejoice that he was a man very confident of his eternal home!

Terry was also one of the "realest' men on the face of the planet and loved to express his world through old school songs, early rap and serenade the love of his life every chance he got with beautiful love songs.  As you listen and watch, use the videos and songs shared here on the memorial site to learn more of the very multifaceted man that was Terry Teval Whitehead and celebrate his life!

Timeline

1973
Terry is Born
Born to John Ashley Whitehead and Diane Scott, Terry was the 5th born in the Whitehead brood.  He was the baby boy to all but would grow to be to one of the most respected and was considered a patriarch to the Whitehead family.
Suffolk, VA
1992
Always a Father's Heart
Beginning in Feb 1992 Terry became a father to twins Tyre and Terry which began the almost 32 year journey of fatherhood; one of the most important roles in his life.  In the following years he became father to Trae (1995), Taevian (1999) and Tavin (2005)  and took on the role of bonus dad to Jada in 2021.  Though his road to fatherhood was not always easy up to the time of his departure, he prayed for his children, for their salvation, and for the breaking of every generational curse.
1996
Salvation - The Key to Life
Around 1996 Terry moved to Connecticut where he experienced the single most important experience of his life, meeting and coming into relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. This one experience defined the rest of Terry's life on this earth.  Terry would spend his days learning and growing in the way of the Lord and even through some of the most destructive times in life, Terry always found his way back to the cross.  In these latter years Terry spent countless hours in worship with his wife and in his own time seeking the will for his life.  There is no question where Terry is today - his home in glory!
2008
Entrepreneurship
One of Terry's traits was as a strong and independent thinker.  From early in his life he stood out as one that was forward thinking and worked outside of the crowd. While some thought he was a rebel it was really the spirit of the leader that Terry always carried everywhere he went. This became clear as he set forth for almost the next 20 years as a an business owner. His most recent endeavor was taking his love of training and animals and building the Adhere Cane Corso brand that continues even today.
2021
"The Sonic Boom"
2/26/21 - Terry always termed this the day of the "Sonic Boom". The day he met his soul mate and the love his life Shauna.  From that day they met Terry would say they had been together for 20 years due to the fact that they had been praying for each other and felt like they had been together all those years regardless of the time and previous marriages...this was God-ordained.. It was if the heavens had opened and it was always meant to be.  He quickly proposed within weeks of their meeting and spent every day from this day with Shauna by his side.

3 String Cord - The Covenant
Terry and Shauna married 5/16/22 on the shore of Coco Beach, FL.  Though both had been married before Terry would call this his first covenant marriage. Ordained by the Lord Jesus Christ, they went before a minister of the gospel and vowed that they would be together through "sickness and health till death do us part".  Though they didn't think this would come sooner than they expected, their love was one made from heaven. Terry would often say "if it isn't like this I don't want it".  Their type of love they both knew only came once in life if you were so blessed and they enjoyed every waking moment together building, loving and worshiping the Lord for the promise that he gave them of Proverbs 10:22.
2024
Bow Out
On December 31, 2024 Terry Teval Whitehead age 51 took his last breath here on earth and was received into the glory of his Father's heavenly dwelling, the one he so often talked about and longed for.  The song "Bow Out" by John P Kee that Terry played weekly became reality as he went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ.
