Obituary
D orothy Teresa Black Masters passed away in Allen, TX on February 3, 2025. Born in Bonita, LA on November 19, 1937, Mrs. Masters graduated from Bastrop High School and was a long-time resident of Bossier City, LA. There she was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church, proudly serving in many capacities throughout her membership years. Teresa spent many of her younger years in central Florida, where she began her family and was employed by the Orlando Sentinel newspaper while her husband Alden worked in the space program. Many of her fondest memories were from those young family years in her cherished “old” Florida. After relocating back to Louisiana in 1974 Teresa was a long-time employee of the Bossier Parish School Board, retiring in 1997. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with friends and family, trying new things, and serving the church.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents Hurston Black and Orene Ingram, and her beloved husband of 42 years, Alden Masters. She is survived by her son Scott Masters and daughter-in-law Jody Masters of Allen, TX, daughter Alesa Foster and son-in-law Fred Foster of Bossier City, LA, and grandchildren Julie Foster of Bossier City, LA, and Shelby Masters of Allen, TX.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Goldstar Hospice and Grace Home Health for their care and concern during this time. The family will be holding a private memorial service for Teresa, but donations are welcome in Teresa’s honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Memphis, TN (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105), or www.stjude.org/donate, or to Samaritan's Purse via www.samaritanspurse.org/donate.
