Obituary

Tay Seymour Deering Jr., a beloved son, brother, father, and cherished friend, passed away on October 25, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 61. Born on June 17, 1963, Tay filled his years with a spirit of courage, resilience, and a infectious humor that drew people to him and left lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A man with a remarkable work ethic, Tay dedicated his life to ensuring the well-being and happiness of his family. He found his true purpose and greatest joy in the family he built. Tay's children, Rebecca and Castle, were the center of his world, and he never missed a chance to support them in their endeavors, often offering his unique blend of wisdom and humor.

Despite life's challenges, Tay faced adversity with courage and resilience, teaching those around him the power of perseverance and positivity.

Friends and family will remember Tay for his kind gestures, his infectious laughter, an affinity for nice things and the anticipation of a trip. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and humor that will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.

He is survived by his daughter Rebecca, son, Castle; brother, Clay Deering; sister, Ann Meha; sister, Faye Cowan; brother, Kakela Deering. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, father, Tay Seymour “Castle” Deering Sr.; mother, Annie Josephine "Puanani" Aiu Deering; and sister, Kaui Hernandez. Tay's memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who loved him.

In honor of his life, the family will hold a celebration of Tay’s journey welcoming those who knew him to share their memories and stories. Though he may have departed from us physically, Tay Seymour Deering Jr.'s spirit will accompany his loved ones in every joyful recollection.
