Obituary of Tata Godwill Cho Taboh

August 7, 1973 – September 7, 2026

With profound sadness and complete submission to the will of God, the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and community servant, Tata Godwill Cho Taboh. He departed this life on September 7, 2026, at the Regional Hospital in Bamenda, Northwest Region, Cameroon, following a brief illness.

Godwill was born on August 7, 1973, in Victoria, now known as Limbe, in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. He was the beloved son of Bernard Chi Taboh and Christina Bongbella Taboh, both of blessed memory.

His educational journey began at Presbyterian Boys’ School at Down Beach, Victoria. He later attended Catholic School Gardens in Limbe, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate, before continuing his secondary education at the prestigious Baptist High School in Buea.

Although health challenges interrupted his secondary education, Godwill refused to allow adversity to determine the course of his life. Guided by his natural love for cooking, hospitality, and service, he enrolled at the Cameroon Opportunities Industrialization Center in Buea. There, he completed professional training in Catering and Service.

Godwill went on to work at Ayaba Hotel and Azam Hotel, where he developed and demonstrated his culinary talents. He later served as a contractor with AES-SONEL before eventually establishing his own catering business. Preparing food was never simply a profession for him; it was one of the many ways he expressed love. Through the meals he prepared and the hospitality he extended, he transformed ordinary gatherings into joyful occasions filled with fellowship, laughter, and a genuine sense of belonging.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Godwill will be remembered most profoundly for his devotion to his family. When his parents became ill, he placed their needs above his own ambitions and faithfully cared for them. He remained devoted to his mother until her passing in 1997 and later cared for his father until his passing in 2012. These years of sacrifice revealed the depth of his compassion and his unwavering belief that love must be demonstrated through faithful presence and service.

On October 16, 2016, Godwill entered into holy matrimony with his beloved wife, Edith. Their marriage was founded upon mutual respect, steadfast companionship, and enduring love. As a husband, he was devoted and supportive. As a father, he worked tirelessly to provide for his two beloved children and to instill in them the values of integrity, humility, kindness, faith, and hard work. His wife and children remained his greatest source of pride, fulfillment, and joy.

Godwill’s love extended well beyond his immediate household. He was a source of strength to his siblings, Rose, Sam, Humphrey, and Awah, and a cherished presence in the lives of his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. He believed deeply in family unity and continually encouraged those around him to support one another, forgive one another, and remain connected through every season of life.

A faithful Christian and dedicated community member, Godwill served as Social Secretary of CYF Ntaturu Veterans and the Christian Men Fellowship of Ntaturu. He approached these responsibilities with enthusiasm, humility, and commitment. He was often among the first to arrive at meetings and gatherings, ready to organize, encourage, and bring people together.

Affectionately known as “Massa Money,” Godwill possessed a joyful and generous spirit. His true wealth could be found in the friendships he cultivated, the laughter he shared, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. He was a connector, a mobilizer, and a brother in the truest sense of the word.

Godwill leaves behind his beloved wife, Edith; his two children; his siblings; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, church members, and community members who will forever cherish his memory.

Although his departure has created a painful void, his legacy will continue to live through the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, faithful service, delicious meals, devotion to family, and gift for bringing people together.

Whenever family and friends gather around a table, care for someone in need, or choose unity and love, Godwill’s spirit will be present. His life taught us that love is not measured only by words, but by sacrifice, service, and the willingness to show up for one another.

Godwill, your earthly work is complete, but your legacy remains. You were deeply loved in life and will remain forever cherished in memory.
