It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. C.A. Raman announced his passing on 10 November 2025.
Dr. Raman’s life was devoted to the science and philosophy of Ayurveda, which was not only his profession but his deepest passion. From his early childhood, he dedicated himself to the authentic traditions of Ayurvedic healing. His vast experience ranged from learning with tribal medicine men to collaborating with universities and even working alongside the Government of Kerala.
Since 1995, Dr. Raman served as the Chief Physician at Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the resort’s healing philosophy and developing many of its renowned treatment programmes and products. His profound knowledge and compassionate care enhanced the lives of thousands of guests.
Dr. Raman’s warm smile, gentle nature, and sincere devotion left an indelible mark on everyone he met. For many long-time guests, he was more than a physician, he was a trusted friend and a cherished member of the Somatheeram family. His presence embodied the true spirit of South Indian hospitality, calm, kind, and deeply humane.
He will be deeply missed by his family, colleagues, and the many guests and friends whose lives he touched around the world. His legacy will continue to live on in the countless people he helped and in the healing traditions he so passionately upheld.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

A very special wise and wonderful man who I have been blessed to know for 23 years. Dr Raman was my Ayurvedic guiding light , a true wise elder who emanated the pure essence of authentic Ayurveda with compassion, heart and truthfulness. He was the first person I wanted to see every year on my return and would always greet me as his sister with such love and joy like a returning family member, which I truly felt. Every single time we were reunited, that first sight of him sitting behind his desk in the clinic, would bring tears of joy to me and a huge youthful smile to him. Dr Raman was the person that created our Welcome Ceremony exclusively for our Journeys of the Spirit retreaters and I feel so blessed for every one our people that experiences this as it truly opens their heart to the authentic healing wisdom of this special retreat that they are about to step in to.
Dr Raman will forever live in my heart, he truly was a special soul and I feel blessed and honoured to know him. When I heard the news of his passing I was on holiday in Prague standing under the oldest tree of this beautiful city. A big leaf fell from this 800 year tree and I knew it was Dr Raman giving me a message he is still around me.

I first came to Somatheeram 16 years ago because I was suffering from horrible chronic pain. You were the one who developed my first ayurvedic treatment programme, stating with conviction "you will leave from here healed".

It is hard to believe that Dr. Raman is no longer with us. For all of us, he was more than a doctor — he was a guru, a guiding light, and a gentle soul who lived and breathed the true spirit of Ayurveda. His warmth, humility, and wisdom touched every heart that crossed his path.
We will forever miss his reassuring smile and his affectionate call of “Makalay” that used to echo through our Ayurveda hospital — a sound that still lingers in our hearts and will continue to do so every time we walk past Ayurveda Hospital .

Along with Polly Uncle & Baby Uncle . he has inspired me to extend my career as an Indian traditional Healer towards Europe & Africa as i settled in switzerland 🇨🇭from 2007 .
Every visit of mine along with Swiss clients and when i refer my clients & patients towards Somatheeram. Dr Raman took care of them and He addressed me Always as « Mone »
I am immensely Blessed & Honored to be at Somatheeram During his Legendary presence at Somatheeram.
