Dear, Auntie, Sidan.
I will forever remember you for that loving Auntie you have always been to me and our family. Auntie, we call you many names because you truly deserve them: Mangie Debora Sidan Nchutouh.

Mangie, you were a gentle sprite woman. You treated everyone you came across, with love. You had a passion for people especially when it came to offering all the cooked food to people you did not know, then go back in the kitchen to cook for the family. You never let anyone around you go hungry.

You had always showered the people around you with love even in your dying bed.

Indeed, your impact on all of us cannot be measured. You are our true Icon in the family. We will truly miss you, but in our hearts, you will not be forgotten.

Mami Mangye, Thank you, Thank you! the task of finding the right words to write has been very daunting to me. Just overwhelmed with the thought of writing about you in the past tense, but then I thought about what Hellen Keller once said, “What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” So we have not lost you, you have just continued to be part of us but in another dimension, the Divine.
There is no way I can ever quantify your importance to our family.
“Ndugu”(sp?) will always hold a special place for us because of you. You opened your heart & soul to us at any moment we showed up unannounced, we had love, a hearty spicy meal & great conversations around unity, love & forgiveness.
You were a savy business woman! always wanting the best for your family & customers.
You were outspoken and did not tolerate wrongdoing & at the same time encouraged forgiveness.
Thank you Mom! You were very sick when Papa passed and I said to you in one of our conversations that you have to wait for me to come & see you, & you have to bury Papa first! & be with us to help us deal with his loss, you’ve done that! & I say Thank you Mami, I can never tell you goodbye for it is too strong a word to say!
Sleep well sweet Mother!

Grandma,
You are the only mangye I have ever seen with mami attached to it; one of the mysteries of special people. Your words were always full of wisdom. I remember you always advising me not to give up in the face of life's challenges because challenges make us even stroger. Thank you for instilling the spirit of unity in those you have left behind.
May your gentle soul rest in peace.

Mami Mangye,
Thank you for always being the mother whenever I needed one. You filled the gap and made sure I never felt the absence of motherly love. Thank you for the nurture, the guidance, the support and love. To have the kind of big heart that could contain all who looked up to you is still a wonder. You were one of a kind and an example worth emulating. May your Legacy live on mbombo.

Mangie
It’s been a long, long time since I ate your fiery peppered food. You cooked well. You also peppered it well. We ate and we thrived well. Thank you.
You were very loyal to us children around you, and I suspect also to our children and our children’s children. You did it simply and easily. Thank you.
You were natural how you accepted the diversity of our family, demonstrating clearly that love conquers. Thank you.
I have never thanked you for single handedly taking care of grandma Nebisuh when everybody else was away chasing life. We never forgot. Thank you.
A lot of good things have happened to me and to those of us who were fortunate to live under your care even just for a brief period. You provided the solid base from which we rose into a challenging and unpredictable world. You are our rock.
I remember your petty trading: salt, oil, kerosine, soap in the village. You were an unsung lifeline.
Miyaka for the “accra” and other treats you brought back from the big market in Momelah. We never asked how you fared in the market. But we sure enjoyed the treats. You kept your reassuring cool and calm that it will be alright. We remember.
We will remember you and all what you did in your quiet way until we meet again.
Fare thee well.

A Tribute to My Mother-in-Law

Today, I honor and reflect on the beautiful person my mother-in-law was. She was not only a mother to her children but also a guide, a friend, and an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love was endless, her kindness immeasurable, and her wisdom invaluable. I am so proud and so honoured to have called you mom my darling mother in-law. One of the strongest women I had the privilege of knowing. You fought valiantly even till the end.
Thank you for raising the woman that I love and for instilling in her that quiet strength that's one of his many amazing qualities. I will forever cherish your unconditional love for me. Thank you for never being a meddling mother in-law. I will forever appreciate your welcome of me into the family. Not one day did you make me feel like a stranger.
I remember your kindness and strength and how jovial you always were. Your many stories and jokes that made us laugh so hard. You always lit up the room. Life of the party! You still managed to dance at your last birthday even though you were ill.
Your daughter , your grand kids and grate grandchild and I miss you.
You were a shining light and we will hold you forever in our hearts. Sleep well mom. We will always love you.
Rest in peace, knowing that your love and light will continue to guide us every day.

A tribute to a Big Sister and a Sunshine.

My sister, friend, support, and my sunshine.
I call you sunshine because of the joy, warmth, and happiness radiating from you to all the Nehbisuh children.

You carried me as a child. We walked together, cared for each other, and learned the lessons of living in and with love and gratitude from our mother, Ndi’i Nehbisuh.

In sickness, death, and life challenges in the Nehbisuh family, you provided a shoulder for me and all our children to lean on.

Though not always visible, your expression of joy was always there when we counted our blessings in this life in quiet conversations.

Your departure from this life has left a gap in my life, but I know you are with our mother, father, sisters, children Ta’ah nfa’ah- my husband, and all our loved ones in eternity.

I will miss you, my sister, friend, support, and my sunshine.

Rest in Peace until we meet again!

Mangie-yi-ndeiu, you taught me everything to live a fulfilled life. But to live without you, you left that for me. It is a hard lesson. But I will do my best to preserve and advance the rich legacy you bequeath to us and humanity. Fare thee well on this journey to meet Tarrh Nchotu, Ndi Juliana and the rest of the family who preceded you. The thought that you are no longer in pain is a little consoling and the hope of the resurrection gives me reason to bid you good bye, Love of my Life.

Mami,
Thank you for loving me and accepting me wholeheartedly as one of yours without boundaries. You treated me as a daughter, you made me feel at home in your home. You have taught me many virtues; resilience, patience, perseverance, love and forgiveness. I came to you when my home was empty and you will always provide with love. You helped me raise your grandchildren and you are in thier hearts. During our last meeting one year ago, we had a very intimate conversation, thank you for embracing as I am. Safe journey, our God is with you.
Evelyn. Your other daughter.

Mama, you are resting from the toils and pain of this world. You worked so hard and tirelessly to make us what we are. It was our wish that you stay longer with us but it pleased God to call you to rest. God's timing is the best. Mama you left a legacy of hardwork, humility, love, patience, and generosity. Thank you mama. Rest in perfect peace.

Grand ma, each time you called me "Ta Ya" I was always keen to your next words because each time we met you would remind me to keep the bond of love and harmony with the family. Spending your last days with you was a wonderful privilege. You told me not weep when you are gone but rather to take care of the family. I trust you are in God's blossom now. I will forever miss you. Miya Mami Mangie

Thank you for all the care, the advice, the delicious home cooked meals in the compound, the prayers, and most importantly, the example you set for all of us on how to love and support one another. There aren't enough words to describe what you mean to us all and how much we will miss you, but we can be at ease knowing you lived a long fulfilling life and were able to see the village you created flourish and thrive through all corners of the globe.
