I met Shawn when we were around 15 years old going to the same various punk shows in South Florida. He was one of the kindest, most intelligent and sincere punk kids in the scene, in my experience . People who didn't know him well would often seek him out on Clematis street asking where the "glasses punk" was. He was always so kind and fun to be around, He was a huge presence wherever he was, and people just felt good and comfortable being around him.
I ended up moving in with Shawn and his very; kind and generous mother when i was around 17, and lived with them until Shawn moved to Georgia, to start a new life there with his first wife. Those were some of the greatest, most fun times of my life.
We ;lost contact off and on, i visited him in Georgia multiple times and we met up from time to time in Florida. .. But we got really close again after his cancer diagnosis and talked everyday for the several years he was able to hold out and fight his disease. Growing up, Shawn was always obsessed with the German Language and culture. He had an Austrian exchange stay with him when he was in high school and he would love to tell stories of how he corrupted the poor kid, getting him into drinking robitussin to get drunk etc. He really enjoyed showing this Austrian kid around and taking him to punk shows etc. When i moved to Austria to start a life with my wife and have children, i was thrilled to have him visit and show him the Austrian way of life, and let him experience life here. This was the first time he'd ever been out of the Country. While here, we contacted the Austrian kid who stayed with him and he responded and Shawn was able to reconnect with him, which i thought was cool.
Shaw really bonded with my kids, teaching them basic coding in binary and them teaching him basic German. He was so patient and considerate with them , it's easy to imagine what a fantastic father and grandfather he was.
Shawn Frame was very likely the best human i've ever known, certainly the best friend i could have ever asked for and i will miss and love him forever...

I changed jobs at the exact moment the pandemic turned work into a grid of Zoom squares. It was disorienting and lonely, like starting over in a place where you’re visible but not known.

Shawn made sure I didn’t stay that way. He reached out, welcomed me, and connected me to people. It was a small act with an outsized impact, and I never fully thanked him for it.

Thank you, Shawn, for your kindness and generosity. I hope we meet again.

I had the pleasure of working with Shawn for a couple of months on a rather technical workstream. In that time I got to witness his absolute love of diving into technical details and hashing out thoughtful solutions. Not only that, every time I jumped on a call with him he was always smiling, kind, and eager to crack jokes.

Beyond our calls, he had become famous amongst our wider teams because of his Miro presentations where he would seamlessly weave together a story-like presentation in what was supposed to be a diagramming tool. And note this is not a small feat in a company that runs on PowerPoint! I can vividly remember the first time everyone saw him do this and comments flooded the call with fire emojis, smiley faces, and superlatives like the "king of Miro".

When I heard the news of his passing I was completely shocked because the energy and warmth he brought did not seem indicative of someone going through what he was going through. It's one thing to have a bright energy about you when things are going well but its all the more impressive when faced with adversity.

Ultimately, I wanted to send my sincere condolences to his family and friends and share the kind of impact he had on those around him at work. Shawn was a truly great spirit and will forever be remembered.

Even though I knew that Shawn's condition was severe and that his health was in perpetual danger, I was  completely convinced that he would survive, therefore the news of his  passing completely devastated me. I met Shawn in Lake Worth, Florida ca. 1992. There weren't any punks in the neighbourhood back then, so when I saw him walking down the road one day, I hit the brakes and asked him if he wanted a lift. Now there were two freaks in the hood, who became good friends!  ^_^ In 1994, I immigrated to Germany and ca. 1996, I returned to the states for a couple of years on family affairs, ended up moving in with Shawn and his ex Wife, kerry in Dalton, Ga. He got me a job in the Graphic design department of a carpet factory where he was also employed, gave me a crash course in  the professional use of Photoshop and Co. In order to keep the job. 8-)
I lived with them for almost a year, but I got, "Fernweh" and permanently  returned to Hannover, Germany; Shawn visited me here a couple of years ago and though the visit was a short one, it was grand! 8> I was real lucky to have been able to see him again, though not knowing that it would be turn out to be the last time.
My Heart and soul goes out to his family, especially his children and grandchildren! Losing a Father, a Pee Paw is devastating! I wish all of you strenghth, peace and happiness! I love you Shawn! 8>

"And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion..."

Shawn was a bright and kind engineering leader and I loved working with him. The first time I met him, he was demoing in front of over 100 people a complex new system architecture he designed, which he broke down as a treasure hunt and kept everyone in awe and eager to learn more. He introduced a completely innovative and playful way to demo tech implementations to a cross-functional audience to keep everyone engaged.

Since then, I knew I had to work closely with him, and we did, through iterative problem-solving sessions about the product we were building, and also from time to time, about music. We shared a passion for hard rock and folk-punk, here’s a link to a song we shared while reviewing some code together: https://open.spotify.com/track/0uksfzTx3cu73ithU3SA2Y. Shawn was a mentor, and a friend. He was really special to me personally, to all of us in the team, and he will be greatly missed.

I can’t say it any better than what others have already said, so instead, here are just a few random memories of Shawn:
- He wore hoodies to work even in peak Summer heat
- He threatened to unfriend us at the invitation of karaoke
- Was always down for work lunch, and lunch was always chicken teriyaki
- Regularly kept us up to date with his family stories

My playlist for him will include the punk / industrial rock bands he tried and failed to get me into (The Chats, KMDFM, Amyl and the Sniffers, Illuminati Hotties) and the couple we could agree on (Garbage and CocoRosie).

You were a real one. Thankful to have crossed paths with you in this universe, and I’m going to miss that laugh.

I met Shawn on my first graphic design job. He was kind and a human during the cruel 2009 recession. He introduced me to Zeitgeist which changed my mind about the world. I also had the pleasure of learning from him in various skills. He was my mentor and such a great friend. It has been a privilege to have known Shawn. I will see you again one day.

I have so many memories of Shawn. They all seem to be woven of the same thread. How he was always looking out for everyone and lifting everyone up or bringing people together. Also his laugh and his smile that seeped through his voice in every conversation. The way he never texted emojis and used this guy ^_^
He exuded so much love. For life and all of his interests and curiosities and especially for his loved ones. He adored his family and was such a proud grandpa. We are all lucky to have shared our time with him and will keep him with us always. Sending so much love to all.
