Obituary
Sharon ‘Dawn’ Sweeting was born in Trelawney, Jamaica on October 7th, 1958 to Pymella Concheta Chambers and Lloyd Orridge. She was raised in Kingston by her grandparents alongside her cousins Sandra (Wiggy), Pat, Gary and Opal. She then moved to the United States and graduated from Walton High School in The Bronx and began a life of giving, loving, raising and cherishing both life and the people she shared it with.
Dawn was an avid traveler who loved trying new restaurants, festivals and experiences. She comes from a long line of talented seamstresses, and she continued this tradition; sewing clothing for herself and others as well as passing her skills and knowledge onto others. She loved planning and hosting family gatherings, always creating the best ones alongside her Aunt Norma and Aunt Betty. She loved going above and beyond for others, and refusing to allow anyone to do the same for her.
On Sunday, April 13th, 2025, she passed away at the age of of 66. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. And Mrs Chambers, her father Lloyd Orridge, her uncle Desmond, aunt Betty, cousin Opal, cousin Gary, nephew Junior, nephew Tyrique, and her son James. She is survived by her mother Pymella Chambers, Aunt Norma, Uncle Junior, her brothers Robert and Martin, her sisters Paula and Deborah, her cousins Pat, Chris, Christine, Paula, Désirée and Sandra, her daughter Sharri, son-in-law Joshua, her grandchildren Grayham, Jett, and Jacqueline Dawn, her nieces Tiffany, Christine, Erica, Mahogany, Candice, Cassandra, Naquasha, Ivonna, Quinneshia, Domonique, and Charlotte, her nephews Storm, Nicki, Jamel, Terry, Robert, Eric, Raquon, Christopher, William, Savion, Christian, Ronald (Poppa), Ronald (Baby Ron), Denholm, Malique, and Alique.
