Obituary
Sergeant Ronald Michael Voigt, Sr. of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Ron was born on May 15, 1946, in Baltimore, MD, the son of Walter Theodore Voigt and Audrey Emma Schaaf. After graduating, Ron became a law enforcement officer with the Annapolis Police Department in Maryland, where he served many years. Ron then moved to Florida, where he later joined the Florida Atlantic University Police Department in Boca Raton in 1994. FAU PD became his home away from home, and he forged many bonds and relationships that lasted the rest of his life. Ron’s FAU family held a very special place in his heart. He always felt it was his duty to protect and serve his community and those he loved. Ron retired from FAU and policing in 2011, but kept his love for "the blue" close to his heart, becoming a firearm instructor in his free time. He enjoyed teaching others.
Ron married Rosemary Preston on February 14th, 2001, in Hobe Sound, Martin County, Florida. Their marriage consisted of a blended family of three children (Ron Jr, Alfred and Nadine) and four grandchildren (Elizabeth, Anna, Mia and Dominic).
Ron’s hobbies were fishing, fishing, and more fishing! Ron also loved golfing, gardening (orchids were his favorite), bird watching, taking care of his dogs and anything to do with firearms, whether it was collecting them, cleaning them, or teaching others how to be responsible owners with proper firearm training.
Ron was a member of The Garden Worship Center in Belleview, FL where he held many trusted friendships rooted in the love of Jesus Christ.
Ron’s Celebration of Life will be held on Ron and Rosemary’s Anniversary: February 14th, 2025, (Valentine’s Day) at 12:00pm at The Garden Worship Center at 12740 SE County Hwy 484, Belleview, FL 34420 with Pastor Norman Lee Schaffer officiating, followed by a reception in the hall afterwards. Friends and family are invited and welcomed to remember a life that was truly a gift to us all.
In Ron’s memory, his family is arranging for a brick to be added to The Memory Wall at The Garden Worship Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in person at Ron’s Celebration of Life or via the church website at https://thegardenworshipcenter.com/ with a special note included “Ron Voigt’s Memory Brick”.
