For our one year dating anniversary Seth and I decided to go camping in Acadia for the weekend. We had all these great plans for how it would go and were excited to explore and have some fun. Unfortunately, neither of us are good at packing so we forgot half our gear. We forgot most of the bedding, tools to cook with, breakfast foods, towels, and a bunch of other little things. We got crappy sleep, ate most of our food cold and uncooked, and bought the most over priced towels of our lives. But we had so much fun enjoying each others company, exploring the park, trying new restaurants, and on the last day we each bought each other a book and laid on a grassy field holding hands and quietly reading. It ended up being an amazing camping trip.

One time I went to Hannaford and I saw Seth walking in the parking lot. He didn’t notice me so I tried to take a photo and send it to him so he’d realize I was at Hannaford too.
He saw me taking a photo and didn’t realize it was me hehe. He gave me the most suspicious face. Once he realized it was me he broke into the biggest smile and ran over to say hi. We walked around Hannaford shopping together while taking about work.

The last hike we went on we took all the dogs to Noyes mountain. On the side of the trail was this huge branch. Seth excitedly ran up to it and picked it up and told me that he was going to go show it off to the dogs and make them all jealous of his stick.

I worked with Seth at PACE. One day we did a transfer all the way up north. It was a several hour ordeal. On our way back we stopped at a store so we could get some food. While we were inside we realized that Seth had accidentally turned and left on the ambulance lights. Several people inside the store kept looking outside at the ambulance. It cracked me up.
We spent the rest of the drive back to base talking about our lives while Sethy chowed down on a pizza slice and an energy drink.

When I announced my pregnancy Sethy was sooo excited. He immediately claimed that he would be Leland’s favorite uncle. Throughout my pregnancy he was always asking how I was feeling, offering to carry things for me and cover shifts for me when I wasn’t feeling well. He had such a heart for kids and I know he would have been an amazing Father if he’d gotten the chance.

While he was in the process of fixing up his Celica, he told me that sometimes he’d just go out and sit in the drivers seat for a while. Just excited to fix it up and be able to drive it one day. When he finally got it driving, he picked me up and insisted that I try driving it too. He was so happy to share it with me and so excited to show everyone.

We have a problem on the Hodgkins family. We are notorious for leaving each other on read and forgetting to reply to text messages. Not Sethy though. You could always count on him to reply ASAP.

When Seth was playing for the Eagles soccer team he was always asking people to practice with him. I remember one time we were practicing and I tried to race him to the ball. He absolutely smoked me. I was so shocked because I’d always been the “runner” of the family. But that was a thing of the past, Seth definitely deserved the title of the fasted Hodgkins.

Our driveway became a mechanic's bay the summer Seth lived with us. Between Seth and Eli, there was never less than two vehicles, sometimes as many as four, being worked on. Scattered parts and spilled fluids were an all too familiar part of the landscape.

One evening I can home to find Eli and Seth had both their motorcycles engines pulled apart. To allow them to work into the night, the had set up our pop-up tent and rigged up one of my shop lights to create a makeshift garage. They were happy as clams giggling and troubleshooting. The mood shifted when one of them accidentally dropped a washer inside the engine. I'm not sure if it was that same day or the next, but I just remember them being over their bikes, trying to figure out what to do next when it started raining. They quickly ran around and consolidated all the tools and parts into boxes and dragged them under the pop-up. Satisfied with their work, they came inside.

The next day they found the easy up destroyed under the weight of several inches of rain over night. Boxes of parts filled with water, tools (including some of mine) waterlogged and starting to rust. I could tell the boys were frustrated, but I never heard Seth complain once. At least not in public. It would blame him if GG got an earful later, though. But the never gave up. They got back at it and eventually got those bikes running. I remember being in disbelief.

Those boys were so good for each other. Just like Grace and Seth were good for each other. Just like our family and the lives of everyone who knew Seth were better for having a him in it.

With three strapping young men at our house, food was central to our household. It was always either being prepared, eaten, or bemoaned for having been eaten by someone else. Not Seth though. As long as he got his protein and calories in, he was content (Plus no one would touch his canned chicken).

He brought such a childlike excitement to every experience, relishing it for its newness but never being selfish with it either. He always wanted to share his joy with those he loved.

We love going to the Kancamagus every fall for the foliage and he was like a little kid the first year, skipping and hopping along the rocks in the Swift River. We all ate a picnic lunch together and we all talked and laughed. We are so blessed to have so many moments together.

Many wonderful memories over the past few summers working alongside him as a summer camp counselor, but I will share my favorite from this past summer. We did theme weeks, and the week I told him it was our superhero week, at first he smiled but was not too excited. Well let me tell you, his excitement grew into a full participation. We decorated our own superhero capes, came up with superhero themes, crafted even did a superhero photoshoot. His excitement was contagious, and the kids were so excited to see what we were doing each day. The final day we work our capes, masks and walked to the local beach, and Seth lead the line with his superhero smile, safely brining the kids to the beach as his cape was blowing in the wind. This was with a kindergarten and first grade group, and I can tell you the kids and the adults will never forget Seth, also known by the superhero name he picked, The Invisible Shield.

Putting that dang transmission in Seth’s Celica was such an awful and amazing experience, we did it though and he was always smiling all the way through it

There was this one concert Seth and I went to in Connecticut with a band called Pierce The Veil. He was pretty excited for it and kind of intimidated because of how emo the crowd was lol. It was really cold that night, and I had the smart idea to bring a winter jacket so I wouldn’t freeze. Seth, on the other hand, did not have that thought. He wore just a tank top (one of his signature wife beaters) and a light jacket and decided that was enough for 20-degree weather. We got there 3 hours early so we could get barricade and obviously, Seth was freezing and shivering the entire time. About an hour before the doors opened, he noticed that somebody next to us had a Dunkin’ coffee, and he asked them where they got it. His smart idea was to run to Dunkin’ and get a coffee to stay warm. So he ran to Dunkin’ and took forever to come back. I thought he was going to miss the doors opening, but he made it and had even grabbed a coffee for me when I didn’t ask him to. Even with the coffee, he was still shivering. I just remember at the time thinking about how glad I was to have him as a brother. He was, and still is, my favorite concert buddy. (look at how red his nose is in the photo lol)

The last memory I have of Seth asides from us talking quickly in passing was when I helped him bleed his clutch. It was the last thing he needed for his Celica to get it running. He bought the cheapest brake bleeder kit he could find and tried using that, only to find that it didn’t fit. He obviously wasn’t gonna just give up so he told me to wait for just a second and then he ran into the garage and magically pulled a bigger hose out of nowhere and of course it fit perfectly. We spent 5 minutes bleeding the clutch and got the Celica running. I still remember how happy he was to finally have his car working again.

I remember we were at a soccer game, and everyone was wondering where Seth was. I decided to FaceTime him, and apparently his car broke down. The tensioner bolt of his alternator fell out of place, leaving him and Catie dead in the water. He was an hour away from the game. He allegedly walked down the road in the blazing till he was able to find the bolt that fell out

Brownies are a big deal in our home and I made a fresh tray one day. Later that evening we went to cut them and saw what looked like someone had taken a fistful out of the middle. “What happened to these brownies?!” I yelled….and we all see Seth giggling…”It was me.” He admitted and then bust out laughing. He doesn’t even like the middle brownies, and did it just to punk us. He could be a little mischievous at times, to say the least.

This is from the first time we hung out after getting together, I wanted to get an aesthetic picture of him in the field and he gracefully obliged even though I think it made him feel a little awkward lol

My last memory with Seth was when I brought him dinner and some groceries to his work for him. He ran up to the driver side of the car and I said “why are you coming to this side? All the groceries are on the other side” to which he replied: “but my beautiful girlfriend is on this side!” He always said the sweetest things to me, and you could tell he meant every single one of them.

One of my earliest memories of Seth was when he got a subscription for this monthly cologne company, and used to spray what seemed like half the bottle on himself every day. You could smell him before he even entered the room lol. But once he got the right amount figured out, there was no one better smelling than him.
