be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Obituary

Scott Patrick Stack was born on January 9, 1984, in Orange County, California. From his very first moments in this world, he showed a remarkable will to live. Due to life-threatening complications during delivery, he spent his first ten days in the NICU before he was strong enough to go home. This early strength would become a defining part of who he was throughout his life.

Scott passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 2:43 in the afternoon, at the age of 41. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on September 28, 2023, and faced his illness with courage and resilience. The Lord protected Scott so many times over the past 2+ years. God heard our cries, lifted Scott out of the mud and mire, and placed him on solid ground time and time again. We may not understand God’s plan for Scott, but I CAN be certain that despite our grief, we can trust Jesus and know that God’s character as a loving Father is GOOD.

Scott’s final moments were deeply significant and sacred for our family. Both of our boys were born on sunny Sunday afternoons, and both of our girls were born on a sunny afternoon on Good Friday. The timing of Scott’s passing felt holy—a beautiful reminder of rebirth and eternal life. Throughout the night leading up to the end of his life, Scott was able to look out the window and gaze at the stars in the night sky. He often shared that he felt closest to God when looking at the stars. Throughout the night and into the next day, I played worship music and read Psalms while the Sunday morning sunshine streamed through the window and rested on his face. Our final day together was covered in peace. Scott was pain-free and able to rest quietly as I reminisced about our life and memories together.

My beloved husband, Scott, cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted husband to me, and a compassionate father to our four children, Nolan (10), Judah (9), Colette (5), and Imogene (5). He really was a gentle soul, and often said that he "snuggled too much" with our kids.  Our children's lives have been beautifully shaped by his guidance, his sense of humor, and his love for Jesus. His commitment to his family and his strong moral character set a powerful example for all who knew him.  He had a servant’s heart and faithfully served our church, showing up for his friends—hammer in hand, tools in his trunk, and a witty joke at the ready—always willing to help with any house or yard project.

Scott will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. While his passing leaves a profound sense of loss, his legacy of humor, faith, and selflessness endures in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Service Info

You are invited to join us as we honor and celebrate the life of Scott!
Scott’s services are scheduled as follows:

Friday, January 16th
1:00 pm: Burial at Santa Rosa Memorial Park
1900 Franklin Avenue Santa Rosa, California

Scott’s burial will be a bit unique—fitting for who he was. In lieu of a casket, he will be laid to rest in a burial shroud. His plot is tucked off to the side under an oak tree, and he will be the first person at this cemetery to be buried in this way. Those who feel led will have the opportunity to place flowers in his grave.

2:30 pm: Celebration of Life and Worship Service followed by dinner at Santa Rosa Bible Church
4575 Badger Rd. Santa Rosa, California

Though we grieve his passing, we do so with hope and thanksgiving—trusting Jesus. Scott’s life was a testimony to God’s character, and it is our desire to honor the Lord as we remember Scott together.

Scott’s Celebration of Life will be a time where we come together to uplift Jesus. We plan to honor Scott through a time of worship and praising God for Scott’s life and faith. I encourage you to reflect on your history with Scott. At one point in the service, there will be a time to briefly share a memory. Come as you are, bringing with you a memory, a story, or simply your presence. Scott was the funniest, most witty person I knew, and I know you have some priceless stories to share too!! Whether it’s a small anecdote, funny story, or a heartfelt reflection, it will help paint a fuller picture of Scott’s incredible life.

If you would like to share one of these memories or stories at his service, please reach out to me directly at (415) 583-7052. (text preferred!)

Following the service, we will have a time of fellowship and share dinner together. This entire day will be a family-centered time, and children are welcome as you feel comfortable.

We would be honored by your presence. Please RSVP by January 12th.

Thank you for the love, prayers, and support you have shown throughout Scott’s cancer journey. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and jokester. He is deeply missed—but praise God, he is now made whole and walking alongside Jesus.
