Obituary

In Loving Memory of Scott Meisinger

Scott Meisinger, born April 19, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on January 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was the cherished son of Mary Jane (Barr) Meisinger and Herbert Joseph Meisinger, who preceded him in death. Scott is survived by his devoted sisters, Cheryl Meisinger of Columbia, Missouri, and Christine (Marc) Propheter of Geneva, Illinois; and by his two beloved nieces, Amanda Propheter of Geneva, Illinois, and Mollie (Christopher) Fecko of Pingree Grove, Illinois, both of whom he adored beyond measure.

Scott graduated from Milford Township High School in 1978 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University in 1982. He worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer with the Department of Defense in St. Louis, Missouri. He later managed a Public Storage property in St. Charles, Missouri, until his medical retirement in 2015.

A man of wide-ranging interests and boundless enthusiasm, Scott was an avid reader, especially of science fiction, and a lifelong sports fan. A proud, born-and-bred Cheesehead, he cheered passionately for the Green Bay Packers while also holding a soft spot for the Kansas City Chiefs. His love of bowling earned him a place in the St. Louis Bowling Hall of Fame after he bowled a perfect 300 game in league competition on March 13, 1991.

Scott found joy in gaming on his phone and iPad, forming friendships with people across the globe, including beloved friends in Australia. He even met some of these cherished friends during their visit to the United States. He loved to travel and treasured trips to Puerto Vallarta, Honolulu, Marco Island, and Nashville. Trivia was another of his great passions; he spent many years serving on the St. Cletus Catholic Church Trivia Committee, an activity he considered one of his all-time favorites.

Music was a constant companion throughout Scott’s life, with the sounds of the eighties holding a special place in his heart. He loved artists like Elton John, Barry Manilow, Styx, Chicago, Journey, REO Speedwagon, the Moody Blues, Supertramp, Kansas, and the Bee Gees. Some of his favorite memories were made attending concerts with his younger sister, Chris. Scott and Chris also shared a love of celebrating Halloween together at SIU, a tradition that has been lovingly passed down to Chris’s youngest daughter, Mollie. The shenanigans were endless, and the memories remain priceless.

A man of faith, Scott was a longtime member of St. Cletus Catholic Church, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a Lector, and a member of the Church Council, before moving to Columbia, Missouri, in 2015.

During his college years, Scott’s fraternity was a passionate supporter of Ronald McDonald House, reflecting his early commitment to helping others. In later years, his heart expanded to include a special love for animals, especially his beloved Norwich Terrier, Nicky. Scott was deeply proud of his niece Mollie and became a devoted supporter of her work with Anderson Humane. He was also a steadfast champion of Special Olympics, joyfully cheering on his niece Amanda as she competed in swimming, bocce ball, and other sports. Scott celebrated every accomplishment with pride and was eagerly looking forward to supporting her this summer as she competes on Team USA, representing Illinois.

Scott, you were a wonderful brother. We had some great times together playing trivia and volunteering with the St Cletus Trivia Committee. We love our Packers too, didn't we? I am going to miss our Packer parties here in COMO. And what a blast we had at Mizzou Tiger football games. You should see the stadium improvements ...Wowza!! I promise I will get our Boo to a game after the renovations are done and we will do a toast in your honor!!
Oh, and remember the trip we took to Hawaii where our cousin took us to a "quiet" lagoon for a relaxing swim but failed to tell us about high tide? We both placed our glasses on a rock wall ledge pretty high up then high tide hit and took your glasses out to sea.
Rumor has it Flipper the Dolphin found them and has enjoyed perfect sight since!
Man do I miss you. I miss your quirky sense of humor, your smile, your debates on world events, and the humorous stories of your youthful escapades. Rest in peace my dear, sweet brother. You ran the race and now you can relax pain free and happy.
