I had the pleasure of meeting Sally while visiting my brother Robert (who is married to Sally's sister, Jena) in 2021/2. We shared Christmas dinner, her birthday and an Easter meal. I remember thinking how beautiful she was, with all the grace of a true southern belle. She was much loved by her nephew Julian and his parents. I know this must be a great loss to them and to her parents, especially her father, Lindsay, with whom she lived. My heartfelt condolences to the whole family. There is one less beautiful flower in Virginia.

What a wonderful tribute to Sally. I'm not sure which is more beautiful--the memorial messages or the vintage photos--they both radiate love & beauty befitting Sally.

Spring colors in April will be a warm, affirming touch. I added a photo of the cousins wearing some bold spring colors circa 1994. I don't know if my current wardrobe can match that, but I'll try!

To my friend, Sally. Birdie and I will miss you a lot. We always had a nice chat over a cup of tea. We could share events, good and bad, and feel better after. I miss your bits of art work or presents on Christmas and you never forgot a birthday. You were a good neighbor and you will be missed!

For my Aunt Sally who always had great style and was a great singer.

I made this drawing for Sally. She always had great jokes and we had fun when we were together.

I love you and I will always miss you.

Love,

Julian

Service

The family of Sally Leake warmly invites you to a memorial service to celebrate Sally's lifeWe will come together to remember and pay tribute to Sally by sharing stories and memories of her life, music, and creative expression.

While we mourn the loss of our sweet Sally, we also aim to cherish the moments shared and the joy Sally brought into our lives. As Sally loved creating collages, we invite you to contribute to co-creating a collage of reflections during the memorial celebration. Please consider sharing a short story or memory of Sally at our gathering and/or bringing a symbolic object, photograph or memento that reminds you of Sally. These will be placed on a "Remembrance Shrine" at the memorial, which will be an improvised collage of things that remind us of Sally.

For those who would like to participate in a silent remembrance walk, we will gather for a labyrinth walk at 12:30 pm. (The labyrinth is by the church parking lot) This is an opportunity for your own personal reflection and prayers prior to the communal service, which will begin indoors at 1 pm. Following the service, we will gather for refreshments and a time of connecting.

Your presence would mean a great deal to us during this time of remembrance and reflection. We encourage you to dress in spring colors as we celebrate the renewal of the season. RSVPs are appreciated. (Your name/contact info will only be shared with the host and will not appear on-line.)
