Obituary
On April 7th, 2025, Heaven welcomed our dear Sabrina Godinho Batista - a devoted daughter, loving mother and wife, cherished friend, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Sabrina passed away at the age of 41. We honor her legacy of faith, courage, endurance, and strength as she battled inflammatory breast cancer. Though her time on earth was brief, her impact was eternal.
Sabrina was born on December 29th, 1983, in the city of Santos, in the state of São Paulo. As a teenager, she moved to the United States. A brilliant young woman, she found in her family's teachings principles based on the attributes of our Savior Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was always her most precious treasure.
Sabrina graduated from LDS Business College and then completed her studies in Marketing at Brigham Young University. Wherever she went, she made friends. Always recognized for her remarkable personality, love, kindness, dedication, and faith, Sabrina served in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicating herself mainly to the children in Primary and impacting many girls in the Young Women organization. She mentored, guided, and inspired countless young women, teaching them their divine nature, faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of keeping covenants, and being lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.
Excellence was achieved in all roles of her life: excellent daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, granddaughter, professional, and friend. She married Augusto Batista in 2005, and together they built a beautiful family. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled, and her love for her husband and three children was evident in everything she did. Sabrina always cheered for her children in dance competitions and school presentations, and frequently shared photos of her beloved children and family with friends and family as their greatest fan.
For over a decade, her distinctive voice brought life to many uplifting materials for members of her faith in the Portuguese language. Her voice was heard in thousands of Church media projects, including articles, broadcasts, podcasts, and live events. In addition to interpreting, she also provided language coaching, translation, production, captioning, and linguistic support for various Church and private studio projects, including work with Deseret Book, BonCom, VoicesNow Studios, and Sun Canyon Studios.
Even amidst challenges, Sabrina remained steadfast in her faith and unwavering in her commitment to serve. Even after being given six months to live, she managed to serve with even greater strength and determination. Against all odds, while battling cancer, she managed to extend her life by two years. Her example of self-determination, hard work, and happy life demonstrated her meekness and unwavering desire to be a faithful disciple of Christ.
Before passing, Sabrina expressed her desire for her children, husband, family, and friends to remain happy and faithful. Her greatest wish was for everyone to continue focusing on following the Savior Jesus Christ. Sabrina fought bravely to stay by her husband and children's side but knew that the true miracle lies in Heavenly Father's plan, that the bonds created in this earthly life are eternal and that families are forever. Her faith surpasses our understanding, to the point of trusting Heavenly Father that those who remain will be cared for and comforted. Sabrina leaves a legacy of a disciple of Jesus Christ.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospital technicians who helped care for Sabrina's health during the last two years of her mortal life. The family is especially grateful to friends, family members, and church leaders who ministered to Sabrina and provided support to her and her family during the most difficult days of her mortal existence. The indescribable impact of the fellowship of the Saints on Sabrina and her family stands as a testimony of our Heavenly Father’s tender mercies and the power of Divine Love.
Sabrina leaves behind her husband Augusto, their three children, her parents, eight siblings, and many other family members and friends. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched, the lives of those she mentored, and the countless souls she helped bring to the knowledge of the Savior. Her dedication to the gospel, her compassion for others, and her solid faith have left an eternal imprint on this world.
We know that Sabrina is now in the arms of our Savior, and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with her. Until then, her voice, her love, and her legacy will continue to resonate in our hearts and in the lives of all she served. God be with you until we meet again!
"Of all the gifts our loving Heavenly Father has provided to His children, the greatest of all is eternal life. That gift is to live forever in the presence of God the Father and His Beloved Son as families."
(President Henry B. Eyring)

At church, she had a special gift. She connected with kids in Primary and lifted up the young women she served like few others could. Sabrina didn’t just talk about who we are as children of God—she lived it. And somehow, she always found a way to make each girl feel seen, valued, and deeply loved by Heavenly Father.
Sabrina, we don’t hear your voice now, but your message—your love, your faith, your strength—it still speaks loud and clear in our hearts.
