Ruth was an amazingly kind and caring person. Long after my children left their Crusader group to go to uni, she asked after them and often wrote to them. Years later, she wrote letters to my mother who was becoming increasingly housebound. She just quietly got on with supporting and praying for people. What a warrior!

Along with my brother and sisters, we have known David & Ruth for many years when we went to Dormansland Baptist Church and the Crusader Youth Group there. As a leader, Ruth was not only a key Christian role model to me, but also like a spiritual mother who loved, nurtured and cared for me (and many others) during my formative years as a young Christian. I remember her fondly as a fun, loving, kind, and wise woman. Along with David, she helped my family through some of our darkest moments to which we are so grateful for.
I especially remember the treasured moments when I served with her at Sandle Manor Crusader camp in the kitchen! I learned so much from her which no doubt helped me to fend for myself when I went to Uni!
I also remember her and David often having an open home and cooking some of the most delicious roasts dinners!
When I look back, I can see that Ruth was one of the heroes of our faith who has helped and blessed so many on our journeys. Ruth - you have made more eternal impact than you realise. I am so grateful and privileged to have known you. May you rest in peace and rise in glory to meet Our Lord Jesus. Well done good and faithful servant. I look forward to seeing you again one day, through the hope that is found in Christ alone.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with you David, Joy, Mark, Bronwyn and family during this sad time.
With much love and gratitude.

Ruth, You were the kindest and most loving lady to all who came to you through Crusaders, Church and events that you were involved in.
You and David have loved and touched so many lives and we are all the better off for having your love and support.
I am so thankful for your love and support over the many years I have known you.
From the 12 year old boy to the 46 year old man, you have shown me nothing but love, support and joy.
Thank you Ruth

I only knew Ruth a number of years here at Jubilee community church. She loved Jesus and she was just an amazing and strong lady. I often enjoyed a chat with her. Us younger ladies get inspired by a lady like Ruth.

I feel so blessed to have known Ruth for about 30 years, since I was a junior at the Crusaders group her & David ran at Dormansland Baptist church. I have so many happy memories being an assistant leaders as I grew older and then helping at the crusader holiday camp at Sandle Manor on the new Forest. Ruth has guided me through tough times in my life and celebrating good times too. She will always be a special part of my Christian journey.

Ruth and David were neighbours of mine and also of Marilyn Poffley for a number of years. We both have very fond memories of Ruth as a kind, considerate and valued neighbour. Although eventually moving, it was only a short distance away, so we were pleased to be able to stay in touch. Thinking of David and family at this sad time.

Ruth to us was a very special lady, one who beamed with Joy and was such an example to us both, a spiritual mother to me personally as we journey through life , we meet you in our mid 20s and had the pleasure at being a Dormansland Baptist Church together and then King’s Church Oxted, what a joy to have shared so many Dinners, prayer times, games with the youth .Also to see the joy of seeing both Ruth and David for so many years and with God in the centre as always. Bless you our friend now with our lord.God bless Jayne and Dale xxx

We knew Ruth and David at trinity Baptist Church in Bexleyheath.
I was a new Christian from a non-Christian home, but Ruth and David’s door was always open and there was always food and fellowship as they mentored me both in my walk with Christ and in Christian service. I have a lot to thank them both for as they set the pattern for the rest of my life. She is now enjoying a well deserved rest from service here to fellowship face to face with the Lord.

Dearest Ruth, so gentle and kind, and given to loving others. We have so many memories from DBC together, housegroup, crusaders, parties, delicious lovingly made mushroom soup! Party games, your beautiful garden! Your love for children, and young people! And your love and kindness to us and our family. We give thanks to God for knowing you, and for all you brought into this world. With all our love ❤️ Carol and Phil and family

What a special lady you were Ruth. Thankyou for being my friend for so many years in Oxted. You were a voice of wisdom and encouragement and huge prayer support. We had lots of fun and laughs together over many cups of coffee always flavoured with your faith and love of Jesus which was such an inspiration and example to me.
You will be so missed but so welcomed home by your Lord. Look forward to dancing with you in heaven one day. Xxxx

Ruth was a great friend to me at the time when we came back to the UK after 8 years of missionary work in the DRC. Getting two small children into school, organising our new home and finding jobs too was Quite a task,.We had no family near. The Church was new to me though not to my husband. Ruth lived around the corner- willing to help in any way. She was a blessing to me and we became close friends. Her faith is now turned to sight.

I had the privilege and pleasure of knowing Ruth and David through Dormansland Baptist Church and working with them in leading the youth through the Crusaders Group. Ruth was inspiring, kind ,gentle and patient and the children loved her as we all did. She and David leave a lasting legacy as so many of those young people came to know Jesus through their ministry and have gone on to lead happy and fulfilling lives.Ruth will always be remembered and the world is a sadder place for her passing, but heaven will rejoice to welcome a sister home. Rest in peace beautiful lady.

Services
Please join the family to remember and celebrate Ruth's life.
There will be a shorter service at the crematorium to start with - everyone is welcome to attend but it is a slightly smaller venue with more limited parking (Please see below for live streaming details)
.
This will be followed by a fuller Thanksgiving Service at Ruth and David's church where we will celebrate Ruth's life. We would encourage anyone who can to join us there. After this service there will be tea/coffee and cakes available.
If you could RSVP below that would be very helpful in giving us an idea of those attending the crematorium, and for catering purposes at the Thanksgiving Service.
