I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
Obituary
Rudy Silva Jr., 67, a lifelong resident of Hollister, California, passed away unexpectedly following a short illness, surrounded by his loved ones at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, CA.
Born and raised in Hollister, Rudy was known for his unwavering work ethic and resilience. In his early years, he worked in manual farm labor, where he developed the grit and determination that would define his life. In 1988, he channeled that drive into founding his own business, Silva and Sons Gardening, which he proudly operated for decades until his passing. Through his work, he not only provided for his family but also built lasting relationships throughout the community.
Rudy found joy in life’s simple, meaningful routines. He was an early riser who cherished the quiet hours before dawn, often spent with a cup of coffee and a cigarette in hand among friends at local doughnut shops, McDonald’s, or Jack in the Box. There, he became known for his presence, lively storytelling, and the laughter he shared with those around him.
A man of strong faith, Rudy was deeply devoted to his Catholic beliefs. He regularly attended Sunday church services and found comfort and guidance in reading passages from the Bible.
Above all, Rudy was a proud father. He treasured the time he spent with his four boys and made it a priority to stay connected, speaking with them daily to offer support, encouragement, or simply to hear how they were doing. His love for his children was constant and deeply felt.
Rudy is survived by his siblings, Marian Silva, Raymond Silva, Richard Silva, and Raul Silva; and his children, Raquel Silva, Rudy A. Silva, Jordan R. Silva, Josiah Silva, and Ismael Silva. He will be remembered for his strength, his kindness, his stories, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Love,
Your Sons
