On behalf of myself and family, we wish to extend our sincere condolence to all family and friends of Arlington, specifically his children, and siblings Dr. Pickering and Celia.

We have know Arlington all our lives having grown up as children across the street from each other as neighbors. I can still envision him cutting the grass in their yard regularly with a lawnmower making sure the yard was always well kept.

We were all family in Fat Hog's Bay, and quite frankly grew up together doing all things kids did together back in those wonderful days. His lost is our lost, and I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Ill remember his smile, kindness, adventurous side, and love of fishing. He was a good guy, and I will always remember him as such..

May God be with you Arlington. You will always remain in our thoughts.

In Tribute to Mr. Rowan Arlington Pickering

On behalf of the Public Service and my Office, I extend heartfelt condolences to Mr. Rowan Arlington Pickering's family and friends.

I offer my heartfelt condolences and extend words of comfort to his family members, who have contributed to public service in various capacities which include his daughter, Kindra S. Pickering, former Customs Officer II; his brother, former legislator Dr. Kedrick D. Pickering and his sister, Celia A. Pickering in her current capacity as Manager (part-time) of the Senior Citizen Programme with the Social Development Department. I wish them and the extended family comfort in this challenging time of grief and sadness.

Mr. Pickering's dedication to the Public Service, spanning 25 years, is a testament to his commitment and service. His various roles in the Department of Conservation and Fisheries, which was merged with the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (surviving Department) in 2019, showcased his intelligence and educational background. He began his career as a Fisheries Trainee and retired as a Assistant Fisheries Officer on 3rd April, 2020.

Mr. Pickering's love for nature and the environment was not just a part of his career, but a part of his identity. His passion for fishing was well-known in the community. He was a community-minded and hospitable individual, leaving the eastern community and the wider territory to mourn.

During this difficult time, I encourage the grieving family to cherish the beautiful memories and experiences shared with Mr. Rowan Arlington Pickering. May these stories and moments provide comfort and celebrate the life he lived. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

With deepest sympathy,

A Tribute to Zek

In loving memory of my godfather Zek, a man who always carried wisdom and warmth in every moment we shared. He never passed me by, no matter how busy or far along his way he was. He always stopped, always had time to talk, and always found a way to encourage me to do the right thing.

I remember the countless times when I was heading to softball or track practice, and he was off to town. Without fail, he’d drop by the gate, offering words that lifted my spirit, reminding me to make everyone proud—especially with a “long look” at my future. His belief in me was unshakable, and it’s something I carry with me to this day.

Though Zek is no longer with us, his guidance, kindness, and unwavering support will forever remain in my heart. His presence made the world a little brighter, and his memory will always serve as a reminder to strive for greatness and walk the right path.

Rest in peace, Zek. You’ll be deeply missed, but your legacy lives on in the lives you touched.

On August 30th, I was hit with some sad news. My uncle Arlington passed away, It hit me like a truck, It hurt, and i cried. I never really spent a lot of time with him, but when I did, he always told me he loved me and to always be a good boy. He promised my brother Noah and I that one day he was going to take us fishing, when we got a little older, so we waited with great anticipation. May uncle's soul rest in peace.

It is with a heavy heart I write this tribute for Zeke. He was a kind, sharing, and loving person. I really got to know him when I started to work at the Conservation and Fisheries Department in September of 1999. One thing I could say we were a family, not just coworkers.
We would argue with each but at the end of the day we were back together.

Zeke had a sweet tooth and everyday he would order a plain cake from Josh Bakery and would ask me to cut it up and share with
the staff. When I would bake for the Christmas, I would have to save his plain cake and a pineapple tart. When Betty baked, he would always make sure I got my bread or tart. She would always say when she goes, I would have to take care of him. That was the bond we had with each other.

When I received the news of his passing, I was so shocked, it was just not registering. The week before he called me face time and he was outside. I said to him ‘You don’t like the cold, how you outside?’ and he said, ‘Birn the weather good.’ He told me he was making plans to have the surgery done on is eyes, and I was so happy for him.

I could remember when he went on a trip for work. While on the airport on his return back home, the flight attendant there calling his name Ronan. Zeke was not used to have persons calling him by that name, so he ended up missing his flight and they had to re-book another flight. That was so funny when he told me that story.

Don’t talk about when he had our annual Fisherman’s Day celebration. We would come together to prepare. Everyone knew their role and would take the ball and run with it. On the day of cleaning fish or cleaning of chicken, we would have so much fun and bonded with each other. I would never forget those days. When the Department separated it was very hard for us because you had become family.

Rest in peace Zeke, you will be missed.

How does one accept the untenable and believe the impossible? When one so full of life, love and firm convictions is suddenly no longer there it is a mighty struggle, for he was a mighty man...a veritable force of nature. I guess I’ll be struggling with this loss with joy and sorrow for the rest of my life for he was my forever colleague and born-day brother. Joy for the love lived and sorrow for the parting. Tomorrow is promised to none of us, but it does feel like he is just gone too soon. I pray the unsurpassed Comfort and Presence of Almighty GOD’s with all who loved – and will never forget him.

Arlington and I struck up a friendship since the early 80’s. We remained friends until his passing. I will forever cherish the times we spent together chatting, laughing and sharing stories. Zeek have shown true meaning to friendship by being there in many ways, and will be missed. I extend sincere condolences to his friends and family at this sad time.

May his soul rest in peace and rise in Glory.

Arlington I never saw this one coming. We always hold each other close to the heart and spoke about so many things daily. My heart is heavy and words could never describe the sadness that I feel inside. You're gone but never will be forgotten Cuz.
