Rotimi Femi Benson-Okeowo

For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.
PSALM 48:14
Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Rotimi Femi Benson-Okeowo on 14 March 2025 in the United Kingdom. Born on 03 April 1954 in Ibadan, Nigeria, Rotimi was the first son among five children—a role he filled with devotion, humor, and steadfast love.
Growing up in Ibadan, Rotimi attended Araromi Baptist Primary School in Moloney, Lagos Island, before moving on to Ijebu Ode Grammar School in Ogun State. After relocating to London, he pursued further education at the Centre for Business Studies (now Greenwich University), where he specialized in Marketing.
Rotimi began his professional journey at PZ Industries as a marketer, and his passion for exploration soon took him across the globe. One of his first major trips was to India, followed by a memorable journey to Australia in the late '70s. During his time there, he lightheartedly shared anecdotes of curious local residents who used a stone to see if his skin color was merely a disguise. Undeterred by long transit times—taking four to five days to travel from Australia to the United States—he continued his worldwide adventures before ultimately settling in the United Kingdom.
A man of many talents, Rotimi was the founder of Taikens Cargo Ltd, where he poured in his industrious spirit and commitment to serving others. Known for his easygoing nature, sense of humor, resilience, and friendly demeanor, Rotimi loved driving, getting his hands busy at work, and listening to music—particularly favorites like Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream” and Whitney Houston. His cherished Kenwood music set was a prized possession, filling his home with melodies that matched his warm heart.
Rotimi is survived by his beloved wife, Atinuke Abosede Benson-Okeowo, and his children. He leaves behind his siblings as well as a legacy of kindness, resilience, and boundless affection for family and friends. His passion for returning to Nigeria whenever he could—and the joy he found in bringing people together—will forever remind us of his enduring love for home, wherever that happened to be.
Rotimi Femi Benson-Okeowo’s life stands as a testament to the power of curiosity, the importance of community, and the warmth of a generous spirit. May we carry forward the lessons of his humor, kindness, and zest for life, remembering him each time we listen to a favorite song or share a story of how he touched our hearts.

Rest in Power
Rest in God's hands
A father, a mentor, and my best friend. Daddy Rotimi Okeowo Benson was one of the smartest men I ever met—his wisdom was unmatched, and In just five years, he taught me more than I could have ever imagined, opening my mind to knowledge and possibilities I never thought possible.
One of his most remarkable lessons was his vision of generating electricity using just ordinary water. His brilliant mind was always searching for ways to innovate, to make life better, and to push the boundaries of what was thought to be achievable. Sadly, fate closed that chapter before it could be fully written.
I miss you deeply, Dad. Your words, your lessons, and your presence continue to live on in my heart. Thank you for everything you taught me, for the love you showed, and for being the incredible person you were.
Rest in peace, Daddy.

I still can't believe you've left us. Every day feels like you went on a journey, and I keep hoping for your return. Accepting that you've embarked on this journey to the afterlife is hard.
I will miss your jokes, smile and our casual and serious conversations. You were so easy to get along with, taking life in stride and possessing a unique demeanour that made those around you comfortable.
Your warm spirit and simplicity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. Thank you for the laughter, the stories, and the quiet strength you always carried. I hope heaven has power bikes and fast cars with your name on them because I know how much you love taking these bad boys out for a spin. Don't pick up a speeding ticket—the Father won't be pleased.
I miss you more than words can say. You were a father to me. You leave behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten. I wish you a peaceful journey. Love you always, Pops.
Rest in peace.

I'm still trying to process the devastating news I heard two days ago from Uncle Muyiwa Smith of the passing of Daddy ( Pa Rotimi Benson- Okeowo) this has left me in shock and filled my heart with sadness.
I have so many fond memories of Daddy , a man who embodied the true meaning of dedication, commitment, and generosity, I saw it firsthand you were a pillar of strength to your immediate and extended family and the love for you is indiscrible.
I remember how you welcomed me to your home in the UK 2012, you and Mummy treated me like a son, the support you gave during my visit was unprecendented, the memories still live with me till date, you always wanted the best for all.
From Folarin Street to Solomon Okonwo Unity Estate the experience was the same , yöu practically lived a life without worries and we learnt alot from you, you shown and demonstrated to us hardwork pays and you dont condone laziness.
I cannot forget our childhood Christmas and New Year celebrations so special by coming all the way from London. Your presence was always a highlight of our holiday season, and we felt so loved and cared for whenever you were around. Family and friends always showing up.
Your love for automobile and powerbike was second to none. Every lastest Mercedes Benz and Range Rover were all in your garage. I still remember very vividly how you released your cars to me and other friends of Abidemi for our wedding ceremonies, specifically you released A-class Benz and Freelander Range Rover for my wedding, I sincerely appreciate all you did Sir.
Your work ethics and entrepreneurial spirit were truly inspiring. From building Taikens to setting up of table water company , later bakery, you were a true definition of workaholic, doggedness and a goal-getter . But what struck me most about you was your kindness and generosity. You had a heart of gold, and your door was always open to everyone, including your children's friends.
I'll never forget the way you welcomed me into your home, making me feel like part of the family. Your love, warmth, and generosity had a profound impact on my life, and I'll always be grateful for the time I spent with you.
Rest in peace, dear sir. Your
legacy will live on through the countless lives you touched, including mine.
My condolences go out to Mummy, Abidemi, Funmi and Monisola and the entire family of Okeowo, may God grant you all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Keep resting in the bossom of the Almighty God Daddy!

May daddy’s soul continue to rest in peace IN SHA ALLAH
Daddy was a man of hard work, he despised idleness with a passion. If you weren’t smart and honest, he would never trust you with his money. He took great pride in keeping his cars in perfect condition, and he was just as meticulous with house renovations. His commitment to order and integrity was a reflection of the person he was.
Continue to rest in peace,
We Love u but God loves u more.
God strengthen you at this time my sister Silifat.
