Obituary

Roosevelt Williams- Born November 18, 1943 to James and Sarah Mae Williams in Pauletta (Macon) Mississippi. Roosevelt was the the 4th of twelve children: James Jr, Martha, John, Roosevelt, Elaine, Dorothy, Betty, Charles, Doris, twins Leon and Lavon, and Berniece. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Christ July 2022 at Insight Church Tinley Park, IL.
Roosevelt graduated from Macon High School in 1962. As a teenager, Roosevelt and his brothers helped farming their parent’s land. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Chicago where he began his career at Ingersoll Rand. He began as a metal worker and moved into a supervisor position. He retired after 25 years to pursue his ambitions as an entrepreneur. Roosevelt acquired Art’s Tire service in 1984 which grew to include a bus transportation which he named Brykeltt (a combination of his children’s names).
In 1967, Roosevelt married the love of his life Mary Jean Williams also from Macon Mississippi. They were married for 59 years and had four children; Bryant, Kelvin, Tricia, and Tonya. Roosevelt and Mary Jean ran their businesses together for 34 years frequently employing their children and extended family of nephews.
Roosevelt loved the Blues! Bobby Blue Bland was his favorite artist. Roosevelt himself was an accomplished guitarist treating the family to basement concerts on the regular. Roosevelt LOVED CARS period; He had a special soft spot for Chevys and Cadillacs. He always had a joke for you and his is childhood nickname was Brer Rabbit because of his knack for getting into trouble. Roosevelt was above all a FAMILY man, he LOVED talking on the phone and spending time with his brothers, sisters, children, nieces, nephews and especially his grandchildren.
Roosevelt was called to heaven on Monday June 22, 2026. He was surrounded with love by his wife Mary Jean and his children. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Sarah Mae, his siblings Elaine, Martha, Betty, Berniece, Lavon, and John. Roosevelt leaves to honor his memory his wife Mary Jean, his children Tryence, Brandon (deceased), Derrick, Bryant, Kelvin (Natalie), Tricia, and Tonya. His siblings James (Janice), Dorothy, Charles (Gwen), Doris, Leon, his brother in-law Arthur Ivy, and his “ride or die” cousins Eddie and Rosalind (Donnell). His grandchildren Danielle, Kaela, Tiffany, Robin, Nia, Jadyn, Mya, Mariya, Demetrius, Dominique, Kierra, Donte, and a host of other bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
