Obituary

Rodney Sherman Gower was a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. At the age of 72, unexpectedly, he went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2025, with his wife and family by his side.

Rodney was born in Port Arthur, TX on February 5, 1953. He grew up in Ft. Worth, TX and then later moved to Aledo, TX to raise his son Jon Gower and his daughter Shannon Gower. Rodney grew up most his life working in the Construction business as a supervisor. He supervised many companies in Texas and Oklahoma. For the last 20 years he lived in Hastings, OK. A lifetime dream was to always have land with cows, and he did that with his wife, Angie Gower. They created a life on a 40-acre farm.

Rodney loves sports, loved competing and winning, loved a good casino, vintage finds, and he loved his family. He was a simple man who loved sunrises and sunsets.

He is survived by his wife Angie Gower, son Jon Gower & wife Tiffany Gower, daughter Shannon Gower & partner Teresa Priest, stepdaughter Christina Miller & husband Justin Miller, grandson Kace Miller, brother Robby Gower & wife Tanya Gower, sister Tammy Gower & husband Jason, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mom Marilyn Wilbanks & stepfather Pete Wilbanks, Father Bob Gower, grandparents Bud & Evelyn Hoag, grandparents Lamar & Carrie Boone Gower.

His Celebration of Life will take place at Ridglea Christian Church, June 21, 2025, at 2PM.

Rodney was a great man that made my mom happy for many years. In the last 10 years he stepped it up and became the best pepaw to my son Kace. We will truly miss his presence and will cherish the memories they did get to make. Kace's favorite memory of his pepaw is cow poop toss out at the farm. Hopefully pepaw is still throwing poop up in Heaven. We love you and miss you very much!

I met Rodney in Jr High when he hung out at my house. We were friends and I had some wonderful times with he and Cheryl. I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. He stayed at my house when his mom was out of town and brought my mom a pearl broach, that she cherished. I loved Rodney as a friend, and I will always remember the good times. I wish peace and comfort to Cheryl, Jon and Shannon and all his family.
