Missing someone is sadness wrapped in the blessing of having known them.
Obituary
With broken hearts, we are announcing the passing of Robin Renee Exum, who was born on Tuesday, September 19, 1967, in Rocky Mount, NC. Her final breath was taken on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Galveston, TX.
Robin was given life by her parents, Minnie Gardner and Melvin Taylor. She spent her early years in Rocky Mount, NC, where she earned her HS diploma from Rocky Mount Senior High School in 1985. As a lover of mystery shows like Murder She Wrote, Columbo, and Poirot, she used her exceptional skills as a student to obtain her Criminal Justice Degree at CVCC.
She always loved to travel. After her first trip to London back in 1999, her wanderlust truly began to bloom. She was a strong person who did not let anything hold her down when she really wanted to do something.
Robin will be remembered for her laugh, her smile, and the love and care she gave to those around her as she traveled through life. She always went above and beyond for her loved ones, as they meant the world to her. All of the conversations, shared moments, and everyday gestures created memories that will remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing Robin.
Robin is survived by her mother, Minnie Gardner; her children, Ashley Exum, Ian Ballard, Sara Ballard, and Jordan Ballard; her grandchildren, Keith Exum, Karmen Barksdale, and James Jr. Barksdale; her siblings, Carlton Exum, Tarsha Joyner, and Jerrold Gardner; and her nieces and nephews, Kristen Gardner, Justen Joyner, Jocylen Joyner, Taylor Exum, Ashanti Exum, Chaz Exum, Carly Exum, Jennifer Gardner, and Jessica Gardner; her godchildren, Stacy, Robin, and Hunter.
