Obituary
Robert “Bob” Ray Zimmer, 67, of Rocklin, California, passed away on January 18, 2026. Born on April 27, 1959. Born in Dayton OH but he called Santa Maria home. Attended Santa Maria High School where he was a member of the water polo team & learned to enjoy scuba diving. After graduation he worked full time at his father's shop, "Shamrock Automatic Transmissions".
Until 1982 when he & his future wife migrated to the Sacramento area. It was a rough start but three months before his first child was born he found full time employment repairing transmissions again. Bob's career & family continued to grow while enjoying life in the Folsom area. Bob was proud of his success with opening up his own transmission repair shop, Mobile Transmissions in 1989. He continued to build up the business while raising his children there too. Until health issues forced his retirement in 2021.
Bob found pleasure whenever he could go fishing. Especially fish snagging at Nimbus. He also enjoyed having the latest & greatest toys. Anyone who stopped by the shop to share some beers will remember how he liked to show off his latest toys. He was also known to brag about how big that last fish he caught was. And was happy to share his knowledge with anyone.
As the years past use of the motorized toys slowed down & he began collecting Basketball Cards. Which some might say became his obsession.
Unfortunately he was not able to fully recover from his strokes. As his physical abilities declined so too did his mental capacities. We want to think he is now in a better place. A place that feels no pain. A place where he will find peace.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Marvin, two sisters Ranell & Marlinda, & a granddaughter Brooklyn. He is survived by his mother Ranell, a sister Geanine, a brother John, his children Brenda, Bobby, Veronica, Brandon, his grandchildren Baily, Patience, Katherine, & Karma, & the recent addition of two great grandchildren that sadly he never knew of.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the memories of those who loved, laughed, & sometimes lived with him. There were good times throughout the years. Each of us has our own special memories of him. And the family hopes each of you will share some of those memories on Bob's memorial webpage. Please feel free to send a note to the family or contribute your comments, share a story, upload a picture/video any time. This webpage will be available to anyone at anytime in the future.
