Obituary

Robert Elton Bear Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024. Born on November 26, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert Sr. and Betty Bear, Bob lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Bob met the love of his life, Lucille Azzarito, at Cal State University at Long Beach. They began dating in the fall of 1972, quickly discovering a deep connection that sparked an enduring romance. Their love blossomed, and just a year later, in November 1973, they were married. Together, grounded in their shared faith in Jesus Christ and God, they built a family rooted in love and respect, creating a warm and joyful home filled with cherished memories. Their home was a sanctuary of warmth and joy, where their love and faith served as the foundation for family memories and lifelong bonds.

Throughout his career, Bob thrived in various fields, including corporate America, retail, entrepreneurship, and education. He embraced his professional life while showcasing his intelligence, versatility, and dedication. However, his greatest pride was always his family.

Bob and Lucille raised four wonderful children: Matt, Nick, Melissa, and Nathan, creating a home that radiated love, laughter, and unwavering support, firmly rooted in Christian values. Bob was more than just a father; he was a true leader and a steadfast friend. He guided his children with wisdom and compassion, always encouraging them to pursue their passions and dreams. Whether coaching their sports teams or celebrating their milestones, he cherished every moment spent together, fostering a deep sense of connection and trust. His presence at family gatherings was a treasured gift, as he brought joy and warmth to every occasion, making each one feel special. Bob instilled in his children the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of nurturing family bonds, emphasizing faith and love as the cornerstones of their lives. He taught them not only how to love but also how to be loyal friends and supportive allies in life. His legacy of leadership and true friendship will continue to inspire them as they navigate their own journeys.

His love extended to being a truly exceptional grandpa to his six grandchildren: Tenley (10) and Remy (8), Kingsley (7) and Quinn (7), and Eloise (7) and Cecilia (4). Bob delighted in their laughter, creating cherished memories through playful adventures and heartfelt stories that will be treasured for years to come. The bond he shared with each grandchild was profound and unwavering, reflecting a love that was both nurturing and encouraging. His legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of their lives, influencing them to embrace joy, kindness, and the importance of family.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Lucille, and their four children: Matt and his fiancée, Andrea; Nick and his wife, Julia; Melissa and her husband, Nate; and Nathan and his wife, Courtney. He is also remembered by his beloved brother, Mark, and sister-in-law, Susan, along with their three children. Bob cherished his role as an uncle to his nephews, Austin, Daniel, and Christopher Bear, who will carry his memory forward. His warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
