Obituary
Richard Lane Gomez passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. Born on August 19, 1965, in San Bernardino to Joe Gomez and Janet Sessions, Richard faced many challenges early in life. However, his faith and dedication to God allowed him to turn his life around and become a beacon of love and generosity to those around him.
Richard was known for his loving, giving, and selfless nature. He always extended a helping hand to anyone in need, particularly his elderly neighbors, who he supported until his last days. His generosity and willingness to "jump through hoops" for others will be remembered by many. Richard found joy in simple pleasures, including playing darts, which was one of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed riding his bike and gardening.
Throughout his life, Richard formed deep connections with many people he considered extended family, including Lydia Hagen and Daniel Westcott, among countless others who were touched by his kindness and warmth.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Jose Gomez, his mother Janet Sessions, his sister Darla Eisenberg, and his brother J. Alex Gomez. He is survived by his daughters, Brandy Wathen (Justin) and Amanda McCullough (Taylor), as well as several grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Joe Mason, Sonja Stevenson, Teresa Beaudis (Joe), Robert Gomez, Eric Gomez (Misty), Melynda Poirier (Jeff), Courtney McFalls (David), and Gentry Gomez and numerous nieces and nephews.
