Obituary
Rich Grover was born on September 26, 1944, and grew up in Riceville, Iowa, and passed away on January 11, 2026, surrounded by love and the legacy of a life lived fully. Rich was a man whose presence filled a room—often with his infectious laughter, always with warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in everyone he met.
Rich was a proud graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and began his career in Accounting which led him to Chief Financial Officer, where his intelligence, work ethic, and integrity guided his success. Later in life, he followed his true passion—people—by becoming a successful realtor. It was the perfect fit. Rich never met a stranger and could strike up a meaningful conversation anywhere, with anyone. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcome.
Family was the center of Rich’s world. As a father, he poured himself into his children’s lives—coaching their sports teams, teaching Sunday school, and leading with patience, humor, and love. He was incredibly proud of the people his children became, and nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa.” Rich adored his seven grandchildren and beamed with pride whenever he spoke of them.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Lavon Grover; his daughter Tracy Pearson and her husband Phil, and their children Teagan and Delaney; his son Jeff Grover and his wife Maygon, and Jeff's children Joah, Gracia, and Sophia; and his youngest son Troy Grover and his wife Aimee, and their sons Crosby and Landry.
Rich had a deep love for life—whether that meant a good conversation, time with family, or cheering passionately for his beloved Nebraska Huskers. Win or lose, he remained a loyal fan, just as he remained loyal to the people he loved. His joy was contagious, his laughter unforgettable, and his heart immeasurable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17th at Lutheran Church of the Master (West Campus), located at 1200 N. 181st Ct., Elkhorn, NE 68022. Open house style from 11am-1pm with a Tribute at 12pm.
Rich’s life was a gift to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of his family and friends.
