IIn Loving Memory of Renell "RJ" McKibbon Jr.

Renell "RJ" McKibbon Jr. was born on February 11, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, to his loving parents, Renell McKibbon and Venera McKibbon.  Named after his father, RJ carried not only his father's name but also many of his admirable qualities. Like his dad, RJ was a hard worker who believed in the value of showing up, giving his best, and taking pride in whatever responsibilitywas placed before him.
From the very beginning, RJ brought joy and love into the lives of those around him. He shared a special bond with his older sister Robyn, and their relationship was filled with love, laughter, and the kind of connection that only siblings share. During his infancy, she could often be heard affectionately calling him "boy, boy," a sweet reminder of the closeness they shared from the very start. That bond continued throughout their lives and remained a treasured part of their family's story.
At the tender age of nine, RJ accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized, and was filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. He enjoyed working within the youth department, sang in the youth choir, participated in skits, attended youth retreats, and was always willing to assist wherever he could.
RJ was an active and energetic young man who loved sports. He played youth baseball and enjoyed playing basketball at local parks with family and friends. As a child, his favorite baseball player was Ken Griffey Jr., and as a boy RJ proudly wore his Ken Griffey Jr. t-shirts whenever he had the chance.
As he grew older, RJ continued to develop interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed grilling and loved the idea of gathering around good food and good company. Although he wished he had more opportunities to spend time at the grill, it was another way he expressed his love for family and friends.
RJ was a hard worker and took pride in being dependable. Although he did not follow one specific career path, he was always gainfully employed and approached each opportunity with dedication and a positive attitude. His managers often described him as a joy to work with because of his kindness, willingness to help, and the genuine way he treated those around him.
Even as a young man, RJ had a positive influence on others. RJ often led by example, showing that hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to contribute were qualities worth embracing. One Of RJ's greatest gifts was his ability to make people laugh. He had awonderful sense of humor and a unique laugh that those who loved him will never forget. His smile, his playful spirit, and his ability to bring joy into everyday moments made him unforgettable.
Above all, RJ loved his family with his whole heart. He had a tender spirit and was deeply sensitive to the feelings of others. When someone he loved was hurting, he hurt with them. He celebrated the joys of others and carried their burdens with compassion and understanding.
His family will forever cherish the countless memories that made RJ uniquely himself. From -walking around the house attached to his beloved "blankie" as a child, to asking his mom to prepare one of his favorite dishes, lasagna, RJ created moments that continue to bring smiles through tears. These memories are precious reminders of the love, warmth, and joy he shared so freely.
On July 7, 2026, RJ departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and compassion. Although his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will continue through every person he touched and every memory he created. His greatest accomplishments were not measured by titles or possessions, but by the love he gave, the kindness he showed, and the lives he influenced. He was a beloved son, brother, family member, and friend whose presence brought light to those around him.
His uncles, Mark and Greg, and his beloved cousin Marcel preceded him in death. He leaves behind his father, mother, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Those who knew RJ will forever remember his warm heart, his unforgettable laugh and the simple words that became his signaturefarewell: "Love you." Though we can no longer hear him say those words, they will echo in our hearts for the rest of our lives
