Pliny Fisk III

In memoriam
With heavy hearts we share the passing of Pliny Fisk III, CMPBS co-founder and co-director on July 27, 2026. Pliny was a visionary and force of nature who inspired so many over more than half a century. His world view was shaped as much by his formal training in architecture, landscape architecture, and the system sciences as it was by his innate sense of how things work at the most fundamental level, threaded with the equally important elements of collaboration, beauty and, of course, fun. His branding of ‘serious commotion’ was more than words – each undertaking was embedded with the necessary provocation to push edges on many of the most consequential challenges of our times, manifested through a multitude of protocols, prototypes and policies. The Center's staff and board look forward to continuing his legacy with a dedication to advance the many projects underway. Pliny is survived by his wife and professional partner Gail Vittori, children Noah and Adam Fisk and Ariel and Carson Fisk-Vittori, grandchildren Elle, Belén, Jack, Liv, Noemi, Rowan, and extended family.
A celebration of Pliny's life will be announced at a later date. Please feel free to share any memories with us.
