Phyllis Bernice Gunkel, age 96, of Manteca, California, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026. Born on May 17, 1930, Phyllis was a cherished wife, mother, and friend whose legacy of kindness and generosity touched all who knew her.
Phyllis was married to her beloved husband, Elmer "Smokey" Gunkel, and together they built a loving home filled with laughter, support, and enduring family values. As a devoted mother to four children, Phyllis placed her family at the center of her life, always offering encouragement and compassion.
Known for her warmth and generosity, Phyllis was a source of comfort and inspiration to her family, friends, and community. Her gentle spirit and caring nature will be deeply missed by all whose lives she graced.
A funeral service in honor of Phyllis will be held at Acacia Memorial Park on November 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Phyllis are invited to attend and celebrate her life.
Phyllis’s memory will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
