Phillip Ray Coyle

Phillip “Phil” Ray Coyle was a beloved father, son, brother, partner, and friend whose life will be remembered through the many people who knew and loved him.

Phil was the oldest of his siblings, born to his loving mother, Judy Rae Coyle. As the oldest, he shared a lifelong bond with his brother, Chad Coyle, and his sister, Shawn Hunnincut.

Above all, Phil was a proud father to his two sons, Bryant Coyle and Brandan Coyle. His sons were an important part of his life and they will carry his memory, stories, and legacy with them for years to come. Phil also shared his life with his loving partner of 3 years, Ruby Mahome Woody, who held a very special place in his heart.

Phil was a talented and hardworking craftsman who could build, fix, or rebuild just about anything he put his mind to. He owned and operated his own contracting business, where he used his skills to build houses from the ground up as well as transform existing homes. He had an incredible ability to envision what something could become and the knowledge and determination to make that vision a reality. The homes he built and worked on will continue to stand as a testament to his craftsmanship and the pride he took in his work.

That talent extended far beyond houses. Phil loved working with his hands and had a passion for rebuilding hot rods. He enjoyed taking something apart, understanding how it worked, and bringing it back to life. He appreciated the craftsmanship, power, and personality of the vehicles he worked on, and he was always willing to tackle any project that he came across.

Motorcycles were another important part of Phil’s life. In his younger years, he raced dirt bikes, a passion he was later able to share with his son, Bryant. The two raced dirt bikes together, creating memories that Bryant will carry with him for the rest of his life. Their time riding and racing together represented more than a shared hobby—it was quality time spent where they both were able to partake in something they loved.

Phil was indeed a fearless and fierce competitor excelling at many sports. He began skiing at age two through college competing in down hill and aerial moguls. He played on many baseball teams and bowling leagues from youth through adulthood. He competed in several PBA tournaments and even bowled the perfect game twice. He taught his son Brandan how to bowl and Brandan was a witness to many of his tournaments and has the gift to bowl too!

Phil loved to ride snowmobiles and play ice hockey on Woodruff Lake, where he grew up teaching his brother sister how to swim and ice skate among many other pass time activities. He was an inspiring protective and caring big brother.

Phil loved to let loose on the dance floor and enjoyed a wide range of music. He played the trumpet in the Milford High School (MHS) Marching Band and was on the MHS football team!

Phil loved creating spontaneous experiences and memories with the people he loved and was happiest when he was doing something he could put his heart and soul into. Phil's drive, determination, and zest for life was boundless.

From the moment Ruby and Phil met a spark of happiness, faith and unconditional love endured during the most difficult time of his life. Family and friends are grateful for her patience, courage and grace as she stood by him every step of the way.

He leaves behind so much more than the houses he built, the homes he transformed, the machines he brought back to life and talents. He leaves behind a heart of faith, love, forgives and, many heartfelt stories, lessons, laughter, and memories that his family and friends will continue to share for generations.

He is survived by his sons, Bryant (Kendel) Coyle and Brandan Coyle; his loving partner, Ruby Mahome Woody; his mother, Judy Rae Coyle; his brother, Chad (Heather) Coyle; his sister, Shawn (Michael) Hunnincut; as well as extended family and many friends who loved him dearly.

May he rest in eternal peace.
