Obituary

Peter Francis Hoydich was born on April 3, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey, and passed away on July 12, 2026.

Peter was raised in Kenilworth, New Jersey. A proud United States Marine, he earned the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor at Parris Island before serving at Camp Lejeune. He was later stationed at Marine Barracks Washington (8th & I), where he drove for senior military leadership—a responsibility entrusted only to Marines who had earned complete trust.

After his military service, Pete spent several years operating a printing press, work he did with the same steadiness and dedication he brought to everything. His greatest joys were simple: a fishing rod, a softball diamond, and a bowling alley, where he three times rolled a perfect 300 game—a feat most bowlers spend a lifetime pursuing. He was also an avid collector of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars.

Though Pete was best known for his beloved 1955 Chevy, in more recent days you couldn’t miss him in his bright red Ford F-150 with the license plate that said it all: SPORTS1.

Pete had a larger-than-life personality that filled every room he entered. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made throughout his life.

Pete is survived by his mother, Rosanne Hoydich; his brothers, Andy (Nancy) and Michael (Morgan); and his nieces and nephews, Andrew, Aaron, Luke, Kana, Kenzo, and Paxton and many loving cousins.

Peter is also survived by his loving companion Theresa Born-Adams who steadfastly supported him.

Pete will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, quick wit, love of family and friends, and faithful service to his country.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11 am at Community Presbyterian Church, 1459 Deer Path, Mountainside, NJ 07092, followed by a reception to honor Pete’s life in the Assembly Room at the church.
