Paul Sigvald Ringstad

Obituary

Paul Sigvald Ringstad passed away in his home on April 12, 2025, in the loving arms of his wife and eldest daughter, after a long and courageous battle with health issues. He was 82 years old. Paul was born on July 12, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, to Ole Sigvald Hansen Ringstad and Ellen Marie Swanson Ringstad, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Margaret Mary Ringstad ("Muggins"); his children Christine Negron (Patrick) and their sons Gunnar (17) and Gabriel (14), Paul Ringstad (Sarah) and their sons Ryker (13) and Hayden (10), and Stacey Anderson (Randy) and their children Austin (23) and Sage (21). Paul is also survived by his loving sister, Judy Anderson, and brother-in-law, Paul Anderson.

Paul was a proud graduate of Queen Anne High School, where he earned the nickname “The Big Swede” and built lifelong friendships while playing football. He went on to receive a scholarship to Washington State University, joining the Cougar football team until an injury altered his path. That unexpected turn opened the door to the adventure of a lifetime - traveling throughout Europe with close friends, creating memories that became cherished stories for years to come. After his travels, Paul went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Paul launched his career at Boeing before moving into sales with the John Morrell Company. He later joined Food Services of America, where he played a key role in building a successful marine division. Paul spent countless hours on the docks of Seattle and Tacoma and Alaska, working hard to supply food to the region’s fishing fleets and cruise ships. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he earned the respect and admiration of both colleagues and clients, receiving numerous awards—including the honor of being named Salesperson of the Year.

On December 6, 1969, Paul married his golden-haired Montana girl. The couple made their home in Kent, Washington, where they raised their family, supported by a close-knit circle of lifelong friends from both Seattle and Montana. First came Christine, followed by “little Paul,” whose arrival earned his father the lasting nickname “Big Paul.” Finally, Stacey completed the Ringstad crew.

Paul remained a faithful and active member of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church for over five decades. He was a passionate sports fan—loyal to the Cougs, the Seahawks, and the Mariners. He was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest supporter, often found cheering them on from the sidelines. He loved fishing, golfing, and spending time in his yard, but most of all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

He will be remembered as a man of kindness and deep integrity, remarkable dedication, and unconditional love. Paul never sought recognition, yet he quietly and steadily modeled a life of selfless service, commitment, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

His family finds peace in knowing that Paul’s faith in God brings the assurance of his eternal life and the hope of being reunited with him in Heaven one day.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Seattle Children’s Hospital, via the Kent Guild. Paul always had a deep appreciation for the care they continually give his grandson Ryker and the support provided to his family.
