Obituary

Pam Elizabeth Petersen was a woman of incredible stories and an even greater heart. Pam passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. She fought a valiant fight against Dementia, supported every day by her large and loving family.

Her legacy lives large in her girls and her grandchildren. We will miss her stories about growing up as an Army brat (her words) in Japan, the Philippines, Germany and numerous other stops until she enrolled at CU Boulder as one of the small group of women in the Business School. It was at CU that she met her lifelong partner, Jerry. Together they raised their family and navigated the world through multiple moves (11) and thrilling travel. Pam enjoyed tennis and golf and made each of her homes special with her beautiful gardens. After returning to Colorado in 1992, Pam dedicated herself to service through extensive volunteer work with the Fine Arts Center, Marion House Board, Child Nursery Centers, Catholic Charities, and St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her spouse, Jerry Petersen and her daughters Elizabeth (Fred) Rinke, Margaret (Bret) Wacker and Krissy (Scott) Mayer, along with her nine grandchildren: Tripp, Annie, Frannie, Brooke, Jack, Kate, Thomas, Zoe and Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Robert and Elizabeth Gooding and her sister, Patricia Sheflin.

Rest easy dear Prom Queen in the Castle.

I will always remember Pam, while playing golf with Jerry, Pam riding with him, I would say Hello to Pam and her response was always “Oh God Bless You”. What a beautiful person. Mark Roussy

A great grandma with so many memories. She always found the best seashells along the Florida beaches and made the best Christmas cookies, making sure every trip was special and memorable. She was so kind and had so many loved ones who built a community around her. The best host of every party and someone you could never forget. She fought hard through god’s toughest challenges and was a true inspiration for what to be in life. I loved my grandma pammy and may she forever rest in peace.
