In loving memory of Pammy!

Obituary

Pam Dickeson, a cherished mother to Chelsea and Simon, and fondly referred to as "Nanny Pammy" by many who grew up under her care, has died following a prolonged battle with mental illness on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Her infectious laughter, kindness, love for the beach and children, and unwinding day with a glass of chardonnay will always be remembered. Pammy lived in both Australia and New Zealand, and spent many years in Eastbourne, endearing herself to the local community. Having returned to Australia for her retirement, she will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

Arrangements are being made for a memorial service in Sydney, likely to be in late August or early September. The details will be shared once confirmed.

If you want to celebrate Pammy's life, please light a candle in her memory.

Rest easy, lovely Pammy: Second mum to me (and many others). I carry core memories of your laugh, candour, peppermints, fresh flowers and struggling to keep up with your cracking pace. You taught me so much about life and childcare, which I can now bring into my motherhood journey. Chels and Si, my thoughts and love to you both.

Our sincere condolences Chelsea and Simon on the death of your Mum.

It is more than 30 years ago since you all played as kids and had a wonderful time together with the many other children in Pukatea Street. Of more recent times, Pammy looked after our grandchildren who all loved her. We are so sad that she has lost her battle and not able to enjoy her retirement years.

We will remember you all together with Pammy’s kindness and infectious personality.

RIP Pammy.

Dear Chelsea and Simon,
I am shocked and devastated to hear Pam is no longer with us. She was such a big part of my little family's life and she was so happy to be going back to Australia and the sunshine, as well as to be close to her beautiful family. She was a strong, brave, hard working, fierce woman and I loved her honesty and that no subject was out of bounds. I loved seeing her striding around Eastbourne, often with little ones in tow, enjoying the beach life (but hating the Wellington weather!). Your sadness is shared over here in Eastbourne. Sending you much love and strength for the days ahead. xxxxx

Dear Chelsea and Simon, sending you much love. Such happy memories of your beloved mum. So many days with all the children playing outside, running between the houses, coffee mornings, lots of laughs, late afternoon wines, street parties - Pukatea Street days were wonderful. She adored you two. So many good times. Treasure your lovely memories of your dear mum xxxx

Dear Pammie. Through all the years I knew you, all I knew of you was constant laughter, smiles, giving of friendship and love. If I’d seen more of you in recent years, maybe I’d have seen behind that beautiful smile. You’ll be missed by many, especially children, and an entire community. But you’re at peace now. Arohanui xx

Dearest Chelsea and Simon. I am devastated to hear of the passing of your beloved family. I loved having you over the road in Miro St and being your teacher for a short while at Muritai School.
Pammie and I shared many stories and had jolly good laughs together. I can still hear her laughing!
May she now be in peace.

Dear Chelsea & fam,

I am heartbroken to hear of your beautiful Mums passing, and my love and condolences are with you all at this sad time,

Every interaction I had with Pam was an absolute delight, and she bought so much joy and laughter to the room, much like you do too Chels x

Your Mum did an incredible job raising you and Simon to be kind, caring, and simply wonderful humans. And I know how much you will miss her.

Although we may now live oceans apart, I hope you know I will forever and always be there to support you whenever you need it.

Sending you and your family the biggest hugs and all my love right now Chels
xx

Rest peacefully beautiful Pam <3
