Obituary

Owen Blake Sr., born on Thursday, November 8, 1951, in Potsdam District in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023, at 72.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, Owen also affectionately known as Pops, Blakey, or Mr. Blake, life was a testament to the values of love, dedication, determination, and commitment.

He was the beloved husband of Ilette Blake of 43 wonderful years, Owen was the cornerstone of his family.  Owen and Ilette built a life rooted in mutual respect, unwavering support, and warmth that extended well beyond their home.  Their loving partnership demonstrated that true companionship flourishes through both the joys and challenges of life.

Owen is survived by his three children, Owen Jr., Bjorn, Jennifer, and son-in-law Dwayne, all of whom carry forward his spirit of kindness and generosity.  Mr. Blake was a devoted father who instilled in his children the virtues of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family.  He was also the proud grandfather of Jaylen, Bradley & Riley Burrell, and had dreams of having many more.

He is also survived by his late mother Kathleen, brothers Denton and Fitzroy, and sister Beverly, as well as many loyal friends, extended family members, and colleagues who he worked closely with for over 30 years, all of whom share wonderful moments and precious memories.

Mr. Blake was known for possessing many talents, he was a mechanic, a carpenter, a gardener, a tech guru, an underrated cook, and a gifted storyteller but he will be most remembered as a pioneer and an inspiration.  Someone who blazed the trail for many to follow in his footsteps and whose legacy will last generations.  Owen will be deeply missed but never forgotten, this page is dedicated in his honour.
