Mr Olugbenga Ilemia was born on 16 June 1978 in Lagos, Nigeria. He was baptised at All Saints Anglican Church, Yaba, Lagos, where his Christian journey began.
He commenced his primary education at the University of Lagos Staff School. He subsequently gained admission to Federal Government College, Odogbolu, before transferring to the prestigious King's College, Lagos, where he completed his secondary education.
Driven by his passion for learning and personal development, Olugbenga gained admission to Ado-Ekiti State University, where he studied Computer Science. He later travelled to the United Kingdom to further his education at the University of East London. During his time in the UK, he also undertook several professional courses in construction, broadening his knowledge and acquiring valuable practical skills.
Upon his return to Nigeria, Olugbenga joined his father in the family business, Ilemia Real Property and Investment Company Limited, where he served as an Executive Director. Following his father's passing, he continued to play a significant role in the management and development of the company, demonstrating dedication, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Olugbenga was an intelligent, hardworking, and enterprising man who developed a keen interest in business from an early age. He possessed a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit, a creative mind, and the determination to turn opportunities into successful ventures.
His business interests were diverse, spanning real estate and property investment, ice block production, the sale of high-quality mechanised wheelchairs, and the manufacture of quality men's footwear. He also had plans to venture into poultry farming, particularly chicken rearing, reflecting his ambition, foresight, and continuous desire to explore new opportunities.
Beyond his professional achievements, Olugbenga was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He believed strongly in honesty and fairness in his dealings with others. He took pride in his work and was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure his customers were satisfied. His commitment to excellence earned him the trust, respect, and goodwill of those who worked and interacted with him.
Olugbenga had a compassionate heart and a genuine concern for the wellbeing of others. He touched many lives through his generosity, willingness to help, and readiness to offer support whenever it was needed. His warm personality, cheerful disposition, and kindness endeared him to family, friends, colleagues, and business associates.
His Family Life and Relationship with Others
Family held a special place in Olugbenga's heart. He cherished the bond he shared with his loved ones and maintained a particularly close relationship with his siblings, nieces and nephews. He extended this to other young people around him. He was protective, caring, generous, and always ready to stand by his family through life's challenges. He was someone they could depend on for encouragement, guidance, practical assistance, and unwavering support.
One of Olugbenga's most remarkable qualities was his ability to bring people together. He was a natural peacemaker who valued love, unity, and harmony within the family. Whenever disagreements arose, he would make every effort to restore peace and understanding when he calms down. He believed that family bonds should never be broken by misunderstandings and often encouraged forgiveness, reconciliation, and togetherness.
Although he could be firm and principled, Olugbenga had a wonderful sense of humour and a joyful spirit. He had a special way of making people laugh, lifting their spirits, and bringing happiness even during difficult moments. His presence at family gatherings brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of togetherness. He was never indifferent to the challenges of others and would readily offer help, sometimes putting their needs before his own.
To his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, Olugbenga was more than a son, brother, cousin, uncle and nephew. He was a protector, a confidant, a source of strength, and a dependable friend. He was someone who stood up for those he loved and whose concern for family unity remained unwavering.
His life was a reflection of his belief that family should stand together, support one another, and remain united regardless of life's circumstances. His protective nature, generous heart, and commitment to peace will forever remain among the most treasured memories of those who knew and loved him.
A Life Remembered, A Legacy Cherished
Although Olugbenga's journey on earth ended far sooner than we had hoped, his life was one of purpose, determination, love, and meaningful contributions. He worked hard, pursued his dreams, embraced opportunities, and extended kindness to those around him.
He will be remembered not only for his entrepreneurial achievements and dedication to his work but also for the countless lives he touched, the relationships he nurtured, and the love he shared so freely.
His passing has created a void that words cannot adequately describe. We will miss his laughter, his protective presence, his words of encouragement, his generosity, and the special way he brought people together.
Yet, even in our sorrow, we give thanks to Almighty God for the gift of his life and the precious memories we were privileged to share with him.
Olugbenga may no longer walk beside us, but his love will remain in our hearts, his kindness will live on in the lives he touched, and his legacy will continue through the family and loved ones he leaves behind.
He came, he lived, he loved, he gave, and he left footprints of kindness that time can never erase.
Rest peacefully, our beloved Olugbenga. You will forever be loved, deeply missed, and lovingly remembered.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
