Oka Pauline Francesca Macdonald

Obituary
W“Oka” Pauline Francesca Macdonald passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026 at the grand old age of 97. She was born In London, England on March 12, 1929. In 1947 she came to Canada to visit her aunt, Teddy Hoyle, and as it turned out, she made Canada her permanent home. After living in Stratford and Toronto with her family of 4 children, she settled in Northumberland County in the 70’s until her death where the landscape reminded her of her beloved English countryside.
Her last home, where she lived for around 40 years was the hub where many, many indelible family memories were made. Summer holidays with her children and grandchildren from Amsterdam and Toronto were wild and fun. As Oka had a trans-Atlantic family, she spent much of her life visiting in England, Scotland and Amsterdam. The last year and a half were spent in a senior residence where she lived independently till the end. It was hard for her to leave her house and her lifelong collection of antiques and beautiful objects but she found friendship at the residence.
Oka was a unique and vibrant personality, a force of nature, a free spirit. She was extremely intelligent, very creative, kind and loyal. And what a sense of humour! Not only did she know how to get a party started, she could keep it going for longer than anyone, of any age. She was a magnet for children and knew how to connect with kids quickly and strongly. She loved all her children and her grandchildren deeply as we did her and she will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
